Some of the gym rats I've seen eyeballing themselves in the mirrors certainly seem to think it is, haha!

Had a blonde moment at the range today....

Was working on sighting in my scope, and was paying more attention to that than the whole loading/clearing deal with the rifle. So I fire a shot, I open the bolt enough so the empty shell ejects, and I just absent mindedly close the bolt and aim for another shot... I pull the trigger and I just hear *click*. I was like fuckkkkk a misfire.... I waited for a minute, then carefully opened the bolt, and what do you know, I hadn't chambered the next round.... My brain is all :rasta: :goingcrazy: :der: today

    Lol.
I did something similar this summer practicing mag changes with my 5906. Pushed the mag release button, slammed a new mag into the gun, dropped the slide, took aim, and squeezed off a couple of 'shots' before I realized that the gun wasn't going 'bang' when I pulled the trigger. Thought I had either a misfire or a hang fire so I stood there for 30-40 seconds waiting before I racked the slide to discover I'd shoved an empty mag into the gun. Turns out I'd only loaded 3 of the 4 mags before I stuck them into the pouch. Derp.
I figured it was a sign that I should call it a day.

"FUCK! Did I just have a squib?!"

Clockwise is both UP and RIGHT?! :goingcrazy:

Seriously, though, are you using a sled, and did you make sure that the scope is set in the rings (and the gun is set in the sled) perfectly level? Because otherwise when you click your adjusters you're not adjusting true to the gun. If you're 10 degrees off from level then every tick you make for a horizontal adjustment also slightly changes the elevation, and vice versa. It might not seem like it'd make a big difference, but at a hundred yards little things like that are amplified.

And if you're trying to sight it free-standing, without any sort of rest or stabilizer....

I was using a rest and sitting. Not sure if it was totally level, but I wasn't trying too hard. I want to get one of those laser bore sighter things. That way I can pinpoint it

A bore sight isnt going to make it "pinpoint" accurate. The bore sight will get you on paper and close to center, the gun will have to be shot to zero the scope. The gun will shoot different ammo to different accuracy levels also. There is a definite relationship between the weapon and the shooter.

You can only get close with a laser. If you use a bore sight, you have to account for the path of the bullet and then figure out what range you want to be zero'd at. For example, I believe the AR15, if zero'd at 25 yards, will also be zero'd at 100 yds because the bullet's path rises then arcs and drops. There's a lot to properly setting up a sight, it's worth reading up on.

Edit: Damn, Billy beat me to it!

That is brilliant! I'm going to sabotage someone next time I go to the range. I just happen to have snap caps for every caliber I own :D

    Mornin' all.

You must be slowing down in your old age, Puggles. Either that or Bill's developing a hair trigger, which I hear can be a problem with older guys.

I know, heating fuel's doing the same thing around here. I want to put another 100 gallons in the tank just to get it in there while it's cheap, but it keeps dropping so I keep putting it off, haha!

Don't worry; I'm sure that the other shoe will drop this summer. At least they've got it lined up correctly; Keep the gas cheap when I'm driving the truck, and if you're going to spike the prices do it between the months of March and October when I can ride the motorcycle.

If you ever go hunting with a politician (edit- or a short Russian driving a station wagon), keep them in FRONT of you!

$2.52 is not bad. I saw $2.49 at a no name station near Boston and I saw $2.59 at a Mobile station that pumps it for you in Milford yesterday.
