Not necessary for myself. Loss of power is there, but not a significant loss. Theses trucks aren't super fast to begin with and once that fact is accepted, moving up to 285/75/16 isn't a big deal. I'd leave the gearing alone and I think you'll find it fine.

Same basic shit everybody else had 5 years ago.

I was a little worried myself but I went to 285's from some 265 MTR's and actually felt like I gained a little back. I also have an ARB up front, CBI with swing out and a topper and I have all the power I need and I average about 18mpg.

Mine felt the same way, 265's felt more under-powered/sluggish than the 285's do.

:jellydance: I want some maxtrax. Some day...

How much do you think resevoir will hold? I don't think I've ever had to fill my stock tank up. It always gets filled when I get an oil change or any sort of service. So I wouldn't be too worried about having less in there.

Also I wonder what it would look like with the stock skid plate. My bumper is pretty damn low profile for a plate bumper so I wouldn't want it too be too obtrusive.

12" of 2" sch40 pvc holds about .171 gallons of water.
guessing the total length around 4'? about 2/3 gallon?

Hmm. I would probably be adding pretty often in the winter then. Not much in the summer though. That fluid doesn't do much to clean bugs lol.

I seem to remember almost emptying a jug when filling the stock reservoir.
