I have a 2015 Tacoma TRD PRO and curious if anyone else is experiencing similar braking issues with their Pro or other Tacoma and if so has the dealer or ?? found a fix?

From day one through about 500-600 miles I would randomly have the ABS system engage during what I feel is normal braking conditions like slowing down in traffic on dry roads and shortly before the truck comes to a stop it feels as though the brakes quit working all together for a split second. I took it into the dealer a few times and we could not duplicate the problem.

After the truck hit the 500-600 mile mark the issue seemed to go away and I chalked it up to new parts breaking in. Now I am at 5,600 miles and the problem is back. I was slowing down for a light in my neighborhood the other day 25-30 mph and suddenly ABS, no brakes, brakes, and there I am in the intersection with my wife questioning my driving skills. Then today I am on the freeway rush hour traffic (30-45 mph) starts to slow I apply my brakes well aware of what is going on in front of me and again ABS, no brakes, brakes, and about end up in the back of the car in front of me.

Now for the most interesting event. I exit the highway on a down hill right hand turn cloverleaf approximately 30 mph (not excessive speed at all) and I feel my brake pedal start to shake and the sound of the ABS kicking in, but I am not touching the break pedal.

All incidents I have had with this have been during normal dry road driving conditions.

I have searched the other threads and found most people are having "issues" on snow/ice. I am actually experiencing this on dry pavement. The truck does just fine on snow and ice. I find it strange that the ABS system also engaged without my foot on the brake too?

I have also owned a 2009 TRD Sport, 2013 TRD Sport and have three 2014's TRD 2 Offroad and 1 Sport package truck(s) in a fleet at work none of which have had or have this this issue.

And Boone thank you for your thoughts hope you are able to get to the 5,000 post mark by the end of the night with worthless content.

The trouble would be replicating the failure mode in the presence of the dealer.

Have you done any off-roading lately? Perhaps one of the wheels sensors are dirty causing the ABS to sense false wheel slip.

^^^ The dealer has been involved since this started happening. I was hoping that someone else has experienced the same and could point to a fix. If not I will gladly share when it has been repaired.

A dirty wheel sensor would make some sense now that we have had some snow and there is magcloride on the streets, but it doesn't explain why it was doing it back in August when the truck was brand new and had this happen on my way home from the dealer

Not sure how it works on TRD pros but you can remove the ABS fuses and I believe ABS won't ever kick in. Not sure if that's the solution you are looking for, though.

I was hoping for a software issue and a refresh of a control module or something simple.

That sounds way more complicated than pulling a fuse :)

The software refresh on my truck for the 09 tranny reflash was pretty simple , hook up truck at dealer , reflash / enter new software data , took like 5 minutes

and pulling an ABS fuse doesn't seem like a great fix on a brand new truck

Agreed. I would try to get some sort of reset thing scheduled with the dealer. But if you're worried about rear ending someone, you could pull a fuse until you get the problem fixed.

I had bad rear brake issues too the first 500 miles. Dealer said it was normal, but I requested (after 2 attempts) they check alignment. Turns out it was off in the front left wheel causing the dangerous braking/sway/abs light from rear. They re-aligned & problem was solved.

I thought the same thing. Braking issues and breaking issues are two completely different problems. I hope no one starts to have problems when they excel.

Thank you for posting this!!! As I had mentioned thishas been an issue on & off since I left the dealer. A friend actuallynoticed as we were leaving the dealer that the truck appeared at a glance to betracking awkwardly. I took the truck in right away and mentioned the braking issue and a possible alignmentproblem. Of course they said everythingwas ok and sent me down the road. I dohave a service appointment today so I will bring this up again. I am hopeful this will be the fix.

I also wanted to thank those of you who have pointed out thebreaking/braking grammar issue. F@#$ing iPhone auto correct! I suppose I shouldpay a little more attention to what I am writing.

You will notice in my 2nd post or the 8thoverall that I did spell braking correctly (No edit) as I was sitting in frontof my computer. That being said I didedit the 12th post to include a statement about the wheel sensor dueto that idea being presented at the same time I was responding to crushh87.
