Just got my HomerTaco Raptor Grille (awesome!) and had to change my raptor light setup. I didn't want to use the same LEDs I had used before because they require cutting the grille, or mounting behind the grille. A few tests of that setup, and I wasn't that happy with the results.

O'Reilley happened to have these LEDs on the shelf, so I bought them, the Optronics MCL13A2B, also found on etrailer.com:
    http://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Lights/Optronics/MCL13A2B.html

    And here are the results:

Naturally, because I'm not a patient person at all, I found a better version on etrailer's website that I like better. Same housing, just clear lenses with amber-emitting LEDs:
    http://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Lights/Optronics/MCL13CA2B.html

Had I been willing to wait, I could have ordered this second version from etrailer instead. I might still, but depending on how I think it look in the daylight. My Raptor lights are hooked to my headlights, and I never turn my headlights off, so I'm not sure it really matters that much.

Yeah I'll be disabling those today for sure. I was trying to go for a good look before with a combination of white and Amber, but it just doesn't look good any way I do it. I had some white led halos in the projectors behind the port holes along with the amber halos on the outside, but they burnt out. So amber it is.

Hmm I like the idea of the amber demon eye. Hurry up and git r done so I can see how it looks! I may do this with my next set:) Are you going to be installing an led inside to illuminate the demon eye or is it gonna be passive? I have metallic blue demon eyes that I powder coated that are illuminated from the extra ccfl halos I had from trs when they were selling them with the kits. Those are still going strong, but not as bright as I hoped. Even the demon eye being passive without my lights on, is barely visible unless the sun is shining driectly in at dusk. You can see in my pic below that it doesnt look like anything in there. I think a single little led would be better and brighter to shine onto the painted shield and foreground limiter.. Idk. I'm still debating what to do with my new retro. Anyways, back on topic.

And I guess you could say the white ones in the headlights, match all my other white lights:D

I went with 4 of the bolt LEDs much like the OP. Did not separate grill / surround, and was able to mount on bottom rather than top of same opening. Wired to parking lamp. It works. I do have a problem. The 2015 has a DRL selection. When selected, between parking and headlight options on the stalk, both filaments are activated, when operating as it should. However, since this mod, it no longer does anything. The LEDs and parking lights do work in parking and full headlights lights modes.

The wiring is as follows: the parking light has a green, yellow, and black and white wire. I tried both the yellow and the green. The ground is good.

I can't figre this one. Any ideas?

Finally got around to installin the LED Raptor Style lights I ordered from Oznium.
The light output is pretty damn good and the bolt design is very clever and easy to work with.

A lot of splicing and looping though since the pre connected wires aren't very long. Also, I had to create my own mounting system to compensate for the loss of the interior lip of the grille after installing the Ghost Raptor insert.

None the less, very satisfied with the outcome and would definitely recommend conquering this inexpensive DIY Mod.

trifecta tonneau, pop n' lock, Depo black bezel headlights, mb 352 wheels, 265/75r16 cooper at3s, visors, colormatched 2011 grille with raptor LEDs, much LEDs in and out Future/wanted: black valence, hood scoop, catback, CAI, 285/75r16s, OMD leaf pack mod
They aren't wired from factory that way, but if you splice a wire from the parking lights, then strip it and push it into the open slot on turn signals, you'll have drls that come on with the parking lights. I'll find the link

I am doing this on my ranger, and just have a question on tapping in to the parking lamp power. When doing this will it blink when the parking lamp blinks as the blinker or will it just stay constant even while the blinker is blinking?

On Rangers the parking lamp is the same light as the Blinker.

    Thanks for any help.

Thought so, any ideas on where else i could wire it?

Maybe just do straight to battery with an independent on/off switch?

    Any ideas are good.

Thanks, is there a diagram out there or a thread I can. Ive only done simple wiring like interior lights.

Tap it in to the cigarette lighter or something maybe, not so sure? Please excuse my lack of knowledge in this area as im more mechanically inclined than electrical.

    Thqnks again

    1. Did anyone wire the lights in series rather than parallel? That's the route I was planning.

    2. Does anyone have an extra black with amber light from Oznium? I have 3, but need 4 due to the 2013 grill having a plastic piece dead center. Shipping for one from Oznium costs more than the actual light.

    1. I did and the only draw back they're not as bright as wired with dedicated positive - negative wiring.

    Just a few LEDs...
When you wire up two 12v lights in series, and power them with 12 volts, each light only receives 6 volts. If you were to wire three in series, each light would only receive 4 volts.

If you want dim lights great, but I like my lights bright.
