I was driving through the woods and my radio antenna snapped off. It looks like the mount is also broken. The Haynes Repair manual only talks about taking off the steering wheel and taking out the radio, etc. Do I really need to go through all this? Or should I just find a new antenna and mount and just replace those parts? I appreciate the help. If it makes a difference, my truck is a 1998 4x4 manual transmission 4 cylinder xtra cab. Thanks!

the antenna is accessed through the passenger wheel well. Pull the liner by unsnapping the fasteners and it is right there.

Is the stud just snapped off at the top of the chrome bezel? If so you just need to get the stud out and replace the shaft. A left hand 1/8" drill bit will knock this job out quickly, once it snags the stud, it will unscrew it, just screw the new one in.

My damn antenna snapped right off at the car wash. It snapped right at the top of the chrome bezel. Anyone ever done the left hand 1/8" drill bit trick??

4Runner Trail wheels and Toyo Open Country ATII tires 265-70-17. Cosmetic stuff like Pro grille and OffRoad black bumper trim, vinyl delete on side, added hood graphic, OEM tube steps.
Ain't gonna happen. Buy a whole new one and replace it. Those things are frozen together after all this time.
