(Visiting for 1 day or any of the 3 days during the meet and/or maybe camping at another campsite other than Tillis Hill)

    35) Taco No Baka (Saturday Only...probably)
    36) 20vmki, 2 nights

    38)

I'd like to be on the list to bump into any spot that might open up at the Tillis Hill site. In tandem I'll call the site to see if there are any sites still open, is it first come first serve on the day of your reservation?
    A few questions...
    1) How family friendly are these events usually (wife, 7 and 5 year old)?
    2) What is the schedule usually like?
    3) How will my prerunner with limited mods do? ;)

Just to clarify is this per site or per truck? ( I am assume per site?) :notsure: So basically 2 trucks split this amount? ($11 each truck on one site) Or per truck $22? Just trying to get it straight. I am good either way lol

Well, we just got back from our Citrus expedition. It was a little grueling, and we still didn't get to the south side of Stage Coach, but it was a lot of fun. Where to start...

Holder Mine campground: It's a pretty nice campground. On the North side of Trl 10 is the RV section. It has power and water hook-ups and fire pits like at Tillis Hill along with a bathhouse. It's pretty nice actually. Seems shadier than Tillis Hill, which I guess isn't too much of a benefit if it's cold out, but nice if it's warm. On the South side of 10 is the primitive camping area (where we stayed). There's no power or water and no fire pits, so if you stay there and you plan on cooking, you need to bring a grill of some sort. We used a small one that you put over the camp fire. Facilities amount to porta-potties stationed at various places around the area. Those of us that used them said they were exceptionally nice porta-potties though. (A.Nori and I used the bathhouse on the RV side to brush our teeth and stuff in the morning.) The kicker is the primitive sites are only $10 a night and we got away with three trucks and tents in one site. The sites are huge...and there's a lot of them. To illustrate, we stayed at site number 119 and there was still two more rows of sites with higher numbers. In other words, more than enough to handle whatever TW can throw at it...all without a reservation.

As for the trail report, well, we found a few interesting places. Nothing really major. There was some serious off-camber stuff on trl 5 that had us biting holes in our seats and a couple more less intense spots like that on the lower numbered east-west trails. I'll try to get into specifics once we have a chance to pool the data. Adam was marking the interesting spots with his GPS.

Of the regular areas (the ones we saw back in Jauary), the trail 14 washout was a lot more intense than back in January, or even back in June. The big suspension flex washout on Trail 11, however, is gone...well, it's still there, but they flattened the washouts with a bulldozer so there's no suspension flew involved anymore. :( There is, however, a nice little climbing area just North of there where trl 6 meets 11. BTW, trl 6 no longer crosses 11. The western leg of it stops there and the eastern leg picks up at trail 11A. You can still get through though if you happen to miss the "no vehicles beyond this point" sign like we did coming from the east side (and it's a pretty interesting trail with a big hill climb that I barely made it up in 2WD, while the two stock 2 Gen TRD ORs behind me had to put it in 4WD to negotiate. It looked like there was a few spots to play at that location as well.) We spotted the verbotten sign on the other end where it came out at 11.

The trail 10 pit was a little different. It still had all the climbs and the mud hole, but the dirt mounts (seen in pics of the SWB crew) are gone. The trail 18 pit still has the dirt mound with the mud hole behind it. There's an new climb to the north of the dirt mound. It's pretty intense, but doable for anyone with 4WD and 33s. I made it up, but I had to scratch my way over the top edge (in fairness, I had broken a CV axle back at the trail 14 washout so I only had one front tire pulling...otherwise, it would have probably been a lit easier).

The clay pits at the corner of trail 11 and 16 were, like the trail 14 washout, a lot more intense. They were all steeper and a lot more rutted than back in January and June. The mud hole Mr. 37s got stuck in didn't have as much water in it, but had clearly been rooted up by someone with some serious tires. Exercising more balls than common sense, after being disappointed by the lack of challenge presented by a less intimidating hole off to the right of this hole, I decided to give it a try (with 3 wheel drive, mind you). I went though the hole fine, but the wall at the end of it stopped me dead...as did the wall at the back of it. When Adam pulled me out, the back edge of my skid plate dug into said wall and resulted in both side plates being torn off the truck. :( I really didn't see that one coming--the busted CV, yeah, tearing the skid plates off the truck, nope, completely unexpected. My front bumper took some abuse from the skids folding up under it too. It was an ugly business, but since I eventually intend to get a plate bumper and after market, stouter skids, it wasn't the end of the world.

Overall, it was pretty dry out there on Saturday. It rained a bit Saturday night, just to make cooking dinner interesting, so it wasn't so bad on Sunday. If we get much rain before the February meet then there will be quite a few spots we saw that might be a little challenging, such as the one on Trail 15 between Trail 14 and 12.

I have to say, it was a lot of fun to go out there and just ride the trails with the intent of riding each trail from one end to the other, rather than just targeting specific spots to play in. Playing in specific spots is fun too, but this was a different sort of fun. I did come a way feeling like I have a lot better navigational knowledge of the area.

Once Rick puts up the videos and sends me the pics, I'll post them here.

Edit: we tried to check out the Mutual Mine campsite, but it was closed. The sign also said "Camping by Permit Only". I don't know it that means it runs the same way Tillis Hill does or not.

And here's a pic or two I took of my truck flexed out in the small washout on trail 14 before you get into the bigger washout area. That little spot has gotten a lot more extreme as well.
