those 2 batteries are similar in size 2 each other that i doubt you'll have a problem making either of them fit into a Pelfrybilt battery tray. the Nautilus Ultra Battery has the same dimensions as a Diehard Platinum.

Beyond the size , the specs seemed pretty similar to me too but I'm no expert , that's why I asked

I have a Odyssey PC1500 in my FJ and love it but its like a $300 battery with tax. If I didn't have that I'd get a DieHard Platinum also a great battery and a hair cheaper

Odyssey makes the Sears Diehard Platinum batteries. and usually can be bought at a cheaper price.

Oz, don't think you lost out on much with the Diehard Canada thing. The diehard is pretty good, but what you're really buying is the Diehard warranty anyway. ...And when it dies hard, your warranty is prorated, so you wind up paying the difference on a new Diehard, mainly 'cause you truck is sitting there with no battery at all while you consider your options.
It's the American way.

So I have one more question , i noticed most of you guys recommending the marine deep cycle batteries are in California .

After educating myself a bit more on the difference between marine deep cycle batteries and auto batteries , I noticed that the Marine Cranking Amps ( MCA ) is a measurement taken at 32F whereas Cold Cranking Amps ( CCA ) is a measurement at 0F .

I understand the value of the deep cel for powering accessories especially with the truck off , just wondering if for those of us in colder areas , would we be better off with an auto battery that has a high CCA ?

 

Don't use a marine deep cycle for your Tacoma starting battery. It will work, but will die a lot sooner that it was designed for. I use a deep cycle marine battery as my axillary battery for running accessories.

The internal construction and design of lead plates between the battery categories gives them different characteristics and using them improperly will severely shorten their lifespan.

For your starting battery, buy the cheapest auto battery you can find with the most CCA that fits in your Tacoma.

Auto batteries live a harsh life, buy cheap, replace every 5-6 years.

also I don't intend to do a 2 battery system , I am looking to get the best single battery for my uses / area / weather conditions

 

iv had my diehard since 2009 and still going strong, even after manypulls with the wench.

i even use it as the main power source for the race radios when chasing/pitting without having to run the engine all day...

 

Not knocking that at all , just wondering if for a colder climate if a non marine battery would be a better choice

 

Oz, the diehard platinum group 31 is not a deep cycle. The response you got from Crom regarding cheapest with most CCA is the best advice you've had on the subject.

CCA is actually a measurement of a batteries capabilities, not a type of battery.
