Gracias. I'm still trying to get used to how it looks with them. When driving at night, I keep thinking I'm gonna hit something because I see the black in my peripheral vision. I'll get used to it

Wow, thanks guys. I recognize a few screen names there from other corners of the internet. ( I go by Hyde802 on some other forums, t4r, ntc, and pirate mostly) Im a member of GreenMountainCrawlers, My folks have 72 acres in central VT (where that video is taken) and were getting some fun trails up here.

Build thread (its kinda long) Its got most of the normal toyota goodies, 4.7 gears going in this winter, and hopefully a chevy 4.3 next winter if the 3.0 makes it that long> http://www.yotatech.com/f199/rattlewagons-1992-pickup-build-up-thread-224943/

I'm gonna miss my kit :( I've had it for over 10 years..

I'm happy though, because it's going to a very good home! A few band teachers at a school in Wakefield pooled up cash to buy this kit for one of their students who really deserves a good Christmas. His sister has Lukemia (I believe). I really hope he loves it!

Welcome, love the pre-taco. I don't think the VT thread is very active, but this one moves pretty well.

    Awesome! For your rig?
I hear you, I really cracked down on things around my house this year. I got fed up with all the solar and wind garbage and decided to take matters into my own hands. I've made sure my house is properly insulated and swapped all my lights over to LED. A typical 40W incandescent bulb gets replaced with a 4W LED. Not much, but it's a start. I'll keep investing in making my home more energy efficient before I give my money to alternative energy sources.

I've been doing that as the old ones have burnt out. They were mostly CFL's anyway, but those certainly haven't lasted as long as advertised so I'm giving LED's a shot instead. So far I've only screwed up and gotten the annoying blue-toned "white" lights once or twice.

Edit: Also, anyone here on the TW Facebook page? Saw a video up there this morning of some snow wheeling that made me jealous, but holy moldy dashboard, batman! I'd be Armorall-ing the shit out of that sucker. Blech.

I will have mass save out after the new year. I am also looking at making my attic a controlled space.

Right there with you. Its a free service that our tax dollars/utility bills pay for. Hopefully they can get my house up to par - its not an old drafty barn by any means, but it certainly has its weaknesses.

My father-in-law lives in a newer house built in 2005. If you open the back door, the front door will compress shut (and its a 3,200 s.f. house). That would be lovely, but almost unobtainable for my house built in the 1970s.

That's a double edged sword. We keep making houses tighter and tighter but there is very good documentation to support that houses need to breathe, especially in areas with a climate like New England where we have drastic temperature and humidity swings throughout the year. You don't want drafts by any means, but a well insulated, energy efficient house should still be able to breathe.

Not without stripping it down to the studs, sealing & reinsulating, and replacing all of the windows & doors, at least. And by the time you're done, you could have built a new house from scratch for a similar price.
Especially since you may as well run new wiring and plumbing while you've got it all stripped down...

My aunt & uncle did that with a house in Mt. Vernon a few years ago. Bought property with an old farmhouse and barn on it, then stripped the house down to the studs and completely redid everything on it. Cost them three times what they paid for the house in the first place, but they were willing to do it because they wanted the ambiance of an old farmhouse without the headaches and astronomical energy bills.

I really went nuts on that my first years in my house, maxed out my energy credit every year..might as well. Have to do my kitchen next..no insulation in them walls.
