Jason really is a fan of rovers and apparently owns a few. He commonly wheels with a group of them out of Wasilla. Truth is, this one from the show LOOKS better than his normal ones.

I'm bummed the Rover is out. They drove decent and weren't too annoying. I'm about ready for butch to fall out and knock himself out though. He reminds me of the pig bad guy from captain planet.

I like how this guy, Butch, claimed their super swamper tire was worth 3,000 dollars.... OH the drama! Never thought I would see a off roading soap opera of a bunch of chain smoking, non-seat belt wearing, red necks.

I can't believe the two guys in the IFS 4Runner made it as far as they did, that rig is the least prepared, did you guys see their bald tires? Seriously if they just stopped smoking for a couple episodes they could get a new set... :D

I like the concept of this show, but the idiots they chose to film just ruin it.
The one episode I did see showed a sneak peek this dumbass knocking himself out because he doesn't have a seat belt on, so stupid.

Well...we don't know that he knocked himself out. He might have "passed out" due to his "fear of heights". :D But yeah, they've shown him bouncing his head off the roof twice now so it's entirely possible he got knocked out. I wonder if the FJ doesn't even have seat belts.

Here is what Carl (SuperJeep) had to say about the tire changing incident:
"Now as for the changing of the tire. First off I feel like i will have to give every camera man a lesson in filming. I'm sure by now most of you have noticed if you are on a hill and you take a picture either up or down the hill it then totally looks flat. In order to get any feeling of steepness you must film film perpendicular to the trail and off to the side.

So the brothers were on a fair incline.By the time we got to them they had taken the winch off the front and put it on the back, ( I cant believe they did not show this on film, good effort on the brothers part) and tried to pull themselves back a bit but then they were having solenoid issues and the winch would not work. So I'm sure they would have eventually gotten the job done themselves, but yes they would have been at it all night. Its hard to tell from the sun in summer in Alaska, but it was very late, by the time we got there they were pretty much exhausted. Possibly if they smoked a little less they might get a little more done lol.
Even with the winch holding it from sliding down the hill it was a bit sketch getting the tire on and off. every time they jacked the rig up it slide sideways into the ditch, all they had was a bottle jack, it was very unsafe. I watched them try the bottle jack several times, A high-lift jack on the side was the trick with all off us using our bodies to keep the balance as the jack went up. (note: by brother Jerry convinced me to by a high lift as the first accessory for my 64 Scout back in 1977, for the exorbitant price of $45. Thanks bro)."

    Wow good info C2T

Yea I was also wondering about the brothers changing their tire. They made it seem like the group went there just to jack up the truck lol

As staged as the show is though, it is still entertaining and they do go over some decent obstacles. The "fluff" in the middle is what doesn't necessarily need to be there. But I enjoy watching it.

My wife gets more a of a kick out of this show than I do. It's pretty funny to have a little 28 year old chick scoffing and laughing at the over dramatization. I will keep watching the show (because this is the only one of its kind) and hope they continue and improve on it. There should be more shows about 4x4ing and overlanding on tv.

Just one of those FYI things I though you might enjoy knowing. Carl Jantz (SuperJeep) posted this in another forum. I found it interesting:

    CARL SAID:
"How does the camera crew get pics{?}. Each Team had a Field Producer (FP) (camera person) in the rig with them. (note the brown curtain in the American Pickers truck, you can see out through that curtain but not in through it). We didn't need a curtain because my side windows are so scratched up the glare prevents seeing in. I put a very low bucket seat in the back of Super Jeep with a 5 way harness for them. They are the unsung hero's of the this adventure. I have ridden in the back of my Jeep at speed over rough terrain, it is not nice to your body after a jump and a few bumps. We went through 4 FPs.

Now at the start of this all of us racers were wondering about how the FPs would get their shots without affecting our times. It works like this. All 6 GoPros in and on each rig, and the FPs cameras and the FPs riding Quad runners, are all synced up with a digital clock to the thousands of a second. Then we had our GPS with timer, and the FP had a Stop watch. So we come around a corner find a mud hole and get stuck. It only takes a few seconds for the driver to say, OK we are stopping our clock at the count of 3, 2, 1, stop! So we all hit the stop button on the stop watches, The co-dog then gets out, the FP gets out and the co-dog gets back in. Then at the count of 3 again we all hit go on the timers, and then the FP films us getting out and getting unstuck or working on a repair. Then we drive off a few hundred yards to an agreed upon point, and hit the stop watch again. Then we Back up and the FP gets back in and we take off again, and as we pass the agreed upon point, we all hit go on the timers again. Later in non technical sections of the trail we all see if our times agree. If we are within a couple seconds we average it out and write down the "TV" time out in a log book. With two stopwatches even if someone goofed up we could figure out the correct time, and if all else failed at the end of the day, we could consult the GoPro time sync.

FPs who were not in our rigs, rode in Quads, 6x6s, & local Moose buggy type vehicles. They would leave camp a couple hours ahead of us each morning, go out and set up at the challenging sections of the course, and film us as we went past. then there would be a TV time outs at a set times during the day. So you pulled over wherever you were, had a snack, and tried to get some rest, the mobile FPs would then charge past us and set up the cameras again. We were not allowed to, service, or look at, or touch our rigs during these TV time outs, if we had to work on our rig, the camera turned on, and the timer turned on, so all time was accounted for equitably. So we played leap frog from around 10am to around 11pm almost every day on the trail, and a few times we set up camp after 1 am. It was very tiring, especially since by that time its starting to get light out again so you start to wake up when you need to get some sleep."

Definitely not all sunshine and roses from the sound of it.

They definitely need more of these shows. I enjoyed powerblock xtreme 4x4 type shows too. I'll take those shows back!
