Is there any place I can find out how many of my truck was made? Only reason I ask is because I have a 2002 taco crew cab SR5 and TRD with a 2.7 in it. I've been told they're hard to find.

Grey wire and keyless entry. I like stock.
If its 2wd, then it would have to be a Prerunner.

I think he may have been asking if it was a base model or not.. then realized it was TRD. The base models (No upgraded suspension) are 2 wheel drive.

    Anyway!
Yes, pretty rare! I had an 03 ext cab 4x4 TRD off road and I got compliments all the time from people who with they had the truck.
Also, from everything I have heard the 2.7l in the older trucks was the most unbeatable engine.

I gave it a shot and called Toyota directly. Apparently it's confidential information to Toyota? Oh well I guess. Any other ideas?

Are you sure it's TRD or did someone just slap a sticker on it? I also thought the 2.7L 4 door prerunners was pretty rare but if you look around they are out there. Of course it makes sense that Toyota would put a V6 in the heaviest truck. I'm actually pretty satisfied with the 2.7L in mine. The factory 4.56 gears in the truck make it fairly peppy around town.

U.S. sales for a 2002 Tacoma was 151, 960. The information made no distinction between base, SR5, TRD, 4X4 or engine size, just total sales. So from there where does one go? I have no idea.

Toyota is blowing you off, either the person you spoke with is lazy, or didn't know how to search for the information. Or they're both, lazy and uninformed, which should come as no surprise. It took me a total of 2 minutes to come up with those numbers.

Now, if you find a Tacoma that has been modified for "U.S. Special Forces" use, that'd be a very rare Cat indeed! And yes they had them. They were bought here cheaply, modified and shipped over to Iraq.

Sorry I can't help you more.
