    Could be....

or it could also be that they do no true towing or bed hauling tests In the real world.
They may play the lab and numbers game.
the reason for the broke rear springs and springs that sag real bad.

That was maybe the reason when I showed up at the dealer and they had Toyota techs and dealer techs all over my truck because it was setting on the bump stops with the trailer....
They stated it was grossly overload due to my trailer.
We then had fun talking spec numbers and weights.
The pulled out a scale to weigh the TW and also a scale sheet where I had just weighed the truck, trailer and TW.

This was a small ATV trailer and ATV.
ask for the max tow and the Toy Tech said 6000 or something like that.
Then max TW was said about 600.

I ask why mine was on the bump stops at about 1500 lb and 250 TW....

They said nothing and had nothing to offer other than telling me I should have got a Tundra if I wanted to tow anything.....

    there it be.

They are great for a all weather car and day to day but not a truck to tow and haul light loads.

As Toyota said Cant help you with towing or hauling on a Tacoma.

It's a test mule with current 2nd gen shell. Safe to assume that the motor, suspension and the Chassis are from the 2016 Tacoma.

Large plexiglass windscreen to test drag, also you don't know what weight may be on the trailer. I gave you what you complained about not seeing negative nancy

Hasty photochop to see what a short-bed version would look like.

I also think the "hood scoop" is just a wrinkle in the covering placed over the front of the truck. I wouldn't count on a hood scoop at this point.

It's nowhere near as square as a hardbody, the camouflage has you confused.

A lot of failing going on here, looks like the trailer is lined with a plexi glass tub that's got 18" of dirty water in it?

I tow just fine with my second gen, maybe you are not doing it right? I hope the 3rd gen to pull just as well if not better.

I have been driving my 05 since 05 and it has been a great rig. I am very happy to see that the DCLB FTMFW is still available for the 16 model because that would be a deal breaker for me. Now as long as the 16 model doesn't give up anything in regards to pay load / towing then there will be one parked next to my 05 very soon. A little more power would be nice, I could not give less fucks about the fuel mileage.

So far, I'm mostly relieved. So far the improvements are not "better" enough to justify replacing my current truck. Plus, if the rumors are true and all we'll see is a smaller V6 with similar (to slightly lower torques), then there's definitely no reason to switch.

no water from the looks of the other picture on the web site.
and if you added 18" of water on that trailer on the front the truck would be dragging its butt more than it is....

But still there could be weight in the trailer, you can't see through the tool boxes and wheel wells. The trailer alone looks heavy.

Better, bigger photoshop comparison between long-bed and short-bed.

Does that rear door look larger than the current model or am I just wishing I see a larger rear door?

I thought it looked that way too, although I'm not that familiar with second gen looks.
