    LOL
seriously! haha. mud gets into everyhing and fucks shit up! dont get me wrong sand does too, but not as bad, not nearly as hard to clean, and i love sand....

dont get me wrong, sliding around in mud is fun, but not worth the years of dirt falling in your face from working on it. it gets in alternators, starters. anything that moves, doesnt really like mud... LOL.

soooo i just got a front diff with 4.88 gears in it, AND an ARB air locker!! woo!! truck isnt getting sassed afterall. kinda excited :)

Yes, as did I. But getting that mud off was several hours of scrubbing and hosing. Was it fun? HELL YES!

Yeah the cleanup sucks but oh well. I usually take it to one of those wash it yourself places, spray of the majority of it, especially on the underside. Then to a carwash and let them take care of the rest of it

    LOL
    haha :)

well i was going to because i just blew my 4th front diff and im just done breaking shit, cause i drive like a maniac.
but i would have to 4 link it and throw coilovers on it, and it would end up costing me 8k just to do the front, and since i already have 30k+ into my truck (not including the cost of the truck) i dont really want to drop THAT much more into it.... but i was going to because i couldnt afford to drive like i do with my current set up. AND THEN: i found a SR1 rhino (R1 engine) that was almost done on craigslist for 12k so i bought that instead (pictures on the last page) so now ill have my toy that can take me 100mph and do stupid shit without breaking.
my plan was to still SAS my truck even though i got the rhino, but then i ran across a front diff, with 4.88s, with a ARB air locker, shipped to my door for $600. i couldnt even rebuild my current one without a locker for that price so i jumped on it. so ill just use my truck for crawling now :) just need to gear it more for crawling and less towards prerunning and ill be golden :)

its been weeks of contimplating on what to do hahaha.

That's awesome!! I think we have all had our fair shares of going back and forth on what to do next. I wanna SAS mine when it becomes a toy because Aaron will be long traveling his. So we will have two toys, one to crawl and one to do stupid shit in haha best of both worlds!

Why spend all of that money when you're can be made to crawl with IFS? You really need to see Sams rig.

Sam is Connors friend with 35s right? This is years down the road so I have time. Basically, I want a crawler. I don't like going fast, it scares the shit out of me haha

    4.88 wow, pretty steep.

I had 4.56 R&P gears and ARB lockers put in both ends of my Tacoma a couple months ago and now want taller tires, have a set of 255/85 waiting for my narrow wheels to be powdercoated, presently running the 265/75 Duratracs. The ABR locker in the back REALLY helps me climbing loose rock hills. I have not activated the front locker yet, have not needed it.

best company you can get :)

the front diff with ARB or the rhino?

    more than a few :anonymous:

    nice!!
best of both worlds :) i thought i had the best of both worlds with 4x4 long travel. but i found out the hard way our front diffs and CV axels arent meant for real hard wheeling. if you can stay out of the skinny pedal its fine. but if your skinny pedal happy, shit goes boom boom pow.
the main things i broke in my truck were 4x4 items.
can i give you guys some advice? on both vehicles honestly. if you buy almost done, or done and broken, and fix it up/finish it your self. you are going to save probably 20k on each rig.
for instance. i have 30k+ at least into my truck not including the cost of the truck. i could sell it for probably 12k. running too.

IFS can not be made to crawl real difficult trails effectively.

    this is how i know....
    4 blown front diffs
    10+ CV axles.

edit: FWIW, IFS did just fine for me for a long time, and does for a lot of people. but if you REALLY plan on wheeling, im talking where body damage is going to occur most likely, you should probably sas, cause you will break everything your IFS has to offer.
ive had 4.88s in my truck for a couple years now with 33 inch tires. i LOVE IT wouldnt go any different. maybe 5.29s. but my truck is a trail only rig, never seens roads. and being a 4 banger i need the low gears.

im locked in the back, and i can already basically get anywhere with a shit load of skinny pedal, so im excited on what ill be able to do with a front locker.

Yeah that'll do it! It's still so funny though!
I hear ya man. I bought my truck built already. Lifted, tundra brake upgrade, 33s (shitty 33s though), and some good maintenance done. The only thing I've done major is the drum brakes and brake booster. Aaron bought a 1st gen Tacoma to keep costs down. being in college will do that haha

What did PHX tack and axle charge?

He did driver her off the road and into a large bush?? I seen it!!!

I thought this was for the Taco :(

I see your point but there has been a winner of the king of hammers that was IFS. This tech has came a long way but still needs more.
