Haha, I was sort of asking where you were that gas was $1.21/L. Generally we're really expensive here in Fort Nelson, then the lower mainland isn't far behind with their extra city tax. You'r location just says BC so that was my best guess. I guess if you're on an island somewhere it would be expensive due to extra shipping costs, though.

I would love to buy a Diesel Tacoma, as long as its a modern style. There is nothing wrong with the newer diesel; pretty much the same work/maintenance you need to do on a Gas engine is the same stuff you would do on a Diesel.

My only hope is that Toyota allows the ECU to be re-tuned.

I love my Chevy 3500 Express with the Duramax and Gross Vehicle weight is right around 9000#... I'm averaging 16.5-18 mpg; on long trips it'll go up to 18-19.5. The only "performance" mod I have is a Bully Dog Triple GT tuner. I should be installing a 4" exhaust within the next 6 months.

Yep, and diesel engines last longer. I have a 7.3 Powerstroke and I think it will outlast the 3.4 in my Tacoma. I know of guys that have a million miles on theirs. A guy I know has a 7.3 IDI (pre powerstroke 7.3) with 850 thousand miles on it, he still drives it every day.

The 7.3 was a tank. Let's see a 6.0 make it That far...

    Not all diesels are equal.

Yeah, the 6.0 gave Powerstrokes a really bad rep, they can be good if you put some money into them, but a 7.3 is reliable right off the line. I love mine, it may not be fast like a 6.0 or newer diesel, but it will pull anything I hook to it. I honestly think my 7.3 pulls better than a 6.0, even though a 6.0 has higher power and torque ratings. I like the feel of the 7.3 best.

Cummins are great too, the old 12 valves were the best.

Sounds like "commence the stroking". I've always seen "I'd rather be cummin' than strokin'." I'll stick with my International DT466E.

I'd like a diesel option because bio diesel is better than ethanol and I'd like to be able to use a 'renewable' source of fuel.

    MmmmMMmm French fry exhaust.

Unless the source the engine outside of Toyota, I doubt it... they have not produced a new diesel engine since 2005... I doubt they will go through the expense of making a new one for the Tacoma...

Do not get me wrong... I would not mid the extra torque, mpg, etc. But if the new gas engines improve the fuel efficiency... I will be good with one of those.
