    I've got two questions:

    1. I have the TRD package on my prerunner. Shouldn't I have a rear locking diff?
If so, how do I engage it? I can't seem to find it.

    2. What exactly does ECT do?

You should but you may not have it, there should be a RR DIFF button by the knob to adjust your gauge brightness. ECT just changes the shift points on the transmission not sure the exact specs or reason to use it I've never actually used it

You have one of the few TRD's with the 4cyl engine, for some reason they didn't put the diff lock on those trucks.

ECT changes the shift points of the trans for a sportier feel, it uses more fuel than normal mode though.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Yes, all TRD first gens had locking rear diffs, they were the only option as there wasn't a Sport option yet.

The ECT like the others said just changes the shift points in the transmission to shift quicker for heavy accelerating, it's best used for passing or emerging on a busy highway when you need to get up to speed quickly. I've actually noticed better gas mileage with it on, maybe that's just me.

Wait, you say your engine is a 2.7? If so, someone just put TRD stickers on it to make it look like one. No 4 cylinder Tacoma comes with a TRD package.

    This ^^^

1st gen TRD package with the 2.7L and the auto trans did not get the e-locker portion of the package.

The same combination with the manual trans did get the e-locker.

OP, the ECT was designed for towing situations. When on, it delays the up-shift points for each gear. IIRC, it raises it by about 200 rpm. Play with it, you may find you like it better. My ECT is always on.

The ECT switch changes the shift points on automatics for a LONGER duration between shifts, presumably for towing...& for the E-locker if there's no button on left side of dash , there is no Elocker to lock...

Also as mentioned there are some out there that have fraudulantly stuck TRD badges on non TRD trucks so they can get an extra $1k or $2k...thieving assholes...Hope yours isn't one...

I can't believe they made a 4 cylinder TRD. Did they ever make one with 4x4?

Well I have the skid plates, progressive rate springs, bilsteins, and that good stuff. So I'm pretty sure I wasn't one of them.
