Sooo after Friday I have the next 2 weeks off and hoping to get some things done on Mater. I'm going to mount my shock hoops and finally get some shocks on the front, going to re-drill my perches to stretch the front 1" but I think my tie rod and drag link are going to contact, contemplating tubbing the firewall, may get a bumper built around the tg winch plate, need to trim the front body mounts so the shackles wont hit them, aaand I've been throwing the idea of a dovenose around. Sounds like a lot but most of this can be done in a day.

I just think its ugly & the only thing you gain is some a little more sight picture..

Just think of it this way.. Will you be able to go anymore places than you can now with a dovetail? Absolutely not.

Its like buying a Toyota and swapping in a V8 and Dana 60/14-Bolts.. Why did you buy a Toyota again? Shoulda joined the "Chevy Militia" to begin with because you've already ruined everything the reputation of Toyota's were built on.

    I'll shut up now.. :D

DON'T CUT UP A GOOD FIRST GEN!!

I didn't want to do it for any of those reasons. I dovetailed the rear because my bed is nice and somewhat straight and I'd like to keep it that way so I sucked it in to keep it off trees and whatnot. Same theory on the front, a preventative maintenance of sorts.

I'm definitely not afraid to do a little cutting but I'd say I'm keeping it cleanish. I've seen plenty of hack jobs a lot worse since I started wheeling this thing.

On another note... do you have the know-how for a 3rz or 5vz-fe swap?

My buddy is doing a 3rz swap and swapping the whole dash.. It makes it very straight forward. I could definitely do one that way.. I could probably wire one in, but it would take me forever!

And idk about a 5vz swap. That's my ideal motor!

    I'll probably just do a 22re swap

It's anti climactic. It gets going strong and has a lot of really good pics then it just dies off and the last update was January of this year :(

If I do the dovenose I'll probably go 8" or so

dove nose sounds like it could be really difficult depending on how much room there is and how many things need to fit in it... shit dude...

I thought the same thing but I got to looking under the hood and there are only a few things mounted to the inner fender. Battery to the rear, relocate radiator overflow tank, and relocate the box that provides spark to the distributor. The rest is pretty much cut and weld. If I actually go through with it I will do my best copy MT-Toy's "tube fender" design from the link a few posts up. I have a good bit of 1/8" plate already so all I'd need is some tube. I got off work today at noon today and don't go back till January 5th so I've got plenty of time

I'm going to tackle the main things first; shocks and hoops, pull the tranny and tcase, install twin sticks. Then I'll see how much time I have to tub the firewall and potentiall start a dovenose. I have a wheeling trip planned to Gulches Jan 10th so if I can't have it done by then I wont start.
