Where does MET start and end?

 

MET ie Mormon emigrant trail. Starts at sly park

 

I thought it was closed in the winter. I could probably swing around the lake sunday morning and head down 50 and meet you guys around there. Need to clear it with the wife.

 

Yes, MET closes in the winter for recreational use. The gate up at Hwy 88 will be closed (also called Iron Mountain Rd since it's there for the old ski resort at the top). This time of year, you're not allowed to drive on it above where Silver Fork Rd comes in because after that it's no vehicles allowed (it's for snow mobiles and such), but that's up around 7K ft elevation anyway.

 

Whoa, snow run on Sunday. I need to make this.

Bowman is pretty far, but still doable. Not sure how its doing on snow tho

 

Its up to you guys. If its near tahoe and on sunday I may be able to go but its up to the wife. Good thing she is sub'd on this thread and will get an email with all the posts in the morning.

 

This is my buddy last weekend, not sure that it's closed yet...

 

That's on the Hwy 88 side of the gate anyway.

 

hey! That truck has an LED bar up front right?? I saw it in Pollock pines on Sunday when I was gasing up at the shell...we gave each other the "nod"...lol ...Truck is bad freaking azz

 

I have no idea about closures on MET but I thought you could access it from sly park and go as far as you can make it. I have never done it when there was snow though. I always stick to what I know, that's why I've always gone to uncle toms . But I'm game for anything.

Haha yeah that was him. That thing was his first car, it's come a long way haha. That's actually who I'm rolling with Sunday.

I've read the winter use requirements for it before. Hard to find. But this post is the same info as what I read before:

I've heard of people driving past Silver Fork Rd (basically at the top IMO) getting cited. They don't have signs up about that, but it's hard to miss Silver Fork Rd. They used to have a gate at Silver Fork but it was removed a long time ago. I'm assuming the gate on Silver Fork at Hwy 50 in Kyburz is closed and locked already too. It's fun in the spring after the gate has been opened to go up Silver Fork in the snow and come down MET.

 

Ya we use to go up silver fork around the gate when we were young and dump.

 

So from sly park to silver fork should be fun if there is snow.

 

Wife says no because her sister is supposed to come over Sunday. When she said that, I had to make sure she was convincing me to stay, not go . I'm gonna do my best to be there Sunday!
