DIY Hi-Lift and Tool Mounts

Subbed to upgrade my benson inspired original mounts

 

What size bolt for those nobs? 3/8" with 16count thread?

 

Man I'm willing to pay someone to make me some since I don't really have time to make them I'm always usually about doing my own work, but with job I have, luckily, I can afford a few luxuries.

I would be willing to make some for you. Are you interested in the Tool or Hi-Lift mount (or both)?

Like I told Simon (slcsez2000), I would need to know what you want, i.e. - Single/Double Quik-Fists (one or two tools), paint preference or bare metal, Plasti-Dipped base etc. I can total up the cost for parts and let you know what they would run.

Has anyone been able to use quick fists to mount a hilift? I ordered some but they don't seem to fit

I have not seen it personally, but the Original Quick-Fists should fit around the Hi-Lift's shaft (not incl. the handle or base).

The Quick-Fist are rated up to 25lbs/ea. (50lbs total) and the 60" all-cast Hi-Lift that I have weighs in @ 32lbs, so it is within tolerance.

All that being said, I would not advise it. Due to the weight, I would want my Hi-Lift to be static and secured. The rubber on the quick-fists would allow it to move around slightly and may cause more wear/tear on the rubber straps, or increased noise/vibration from the hi-lift.

Vise, pliers, hammer. Heat from a propane torch if you need help bending the steel

 

I got lazy and didn't bother to bend them. I also used a 1/8" thick x 1.5" wide aluminum. In my opinion, it came out way better. Plus I don't have to worry about any rust/corrosion issues which is a big issue of my build living by the Great Lakes. Just to give you more options. I measured only about 7.5-8" or so, so no bending was necessary as long as you sand down the edges.

 

Do you guys recommend the 48" or 60" hi lift?

I know my floor jack can't pick up my truck high enough to clear the tires off the floor when I try from the front on the nipplish protrusion

No I think the 48" will fit, the 60" has to go along the bedside.

The bed is 56" at it's widest, 48" between the wheel wells. You could fit the 60", but it'd have to be angled and that would look stupid IMO. Lol I had to learn all the dimensions when I was looking at tool chests.. Was thinking I might get a 48" and mount it to the front of the chest.
