What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Changed my driver side door latch today. Not super hard but still a pain. I hate taking off door panels. I decided to upgrade the factory speakers while I was in there with some kickers. Door closes so much easier now.

 

A few pages back someone posted about using fluid film. I decided to give it a shot myself. With the temp dropping and living in the northeast, I had to give the underside some protection. God does this stuff stink though...




When I bought my truck a little more than a year ago, it sat on a new frame. Just about everything underneath had no rust. I bought it on the spot because of it. Now its been through 1 winter already and without any protection, I'm shocked to see how fast things have started to rust. The whole rear axle was super clean, now its starting to look ugly. So until I get the underside sandblasted and properly undercoated, ~$30 for 4 cans of the stuff should hold me over. Advanced auto parts sells it, I bought it online and used a coupon before picking it up in store.

 

Let me know. I'll do the bypasses, and be a terrible spotter at helping you get through the tough stuff 4 hrs from my door so I'd totally be there.

 

hah that was probably me that posted it a week or so ago. Yeah I didnt mention that it has a stink to it. but its pretty much nonexistent now.

 

Thanks for letting us know about it! I've never heard of the product and out of the 3 advanced auto parts stores I went to, none of the employees knew what it was. I should have put down more cardboard/rags because now the street is basically waxed and slippery. lol. Stuff gets everywhere.

So im selling my rear bumper. I got a call from a guy asking if it would fit the 04 tundra...I told him it wouldn't fit, he said it should. Anyone?

 

I wouldn't wanna sell him something that doesn't fit...he sounded alot older and very confused..lol

 

Ohh okay, i see yeah. Ill do some research and see if its possible.

 

Upon further investigation, the frame on the tundra seems to be a bit wider than the tacomas. It looks really close but I would say no, it would not fit.

 

Frame width is totally different. Won't fit his Tundra.

having done it 3 times before (in my old toyota) i must say its one of my favorite trails. i liked it much better then the hammers and such.

I discovered that my truck came standard with a heated burrito holder.
