49 out of the 50 Taco owners I've seen don't give a shit. They drive on by as if they (or me) are driving a Honda civic.

That's good. You should drive what you like (that you can afford) and it meets your needs (maybe not wants) There are too many other things more important in life to fret over than a truck.

In the 90's Accords were the ride of choice for lemmings, followed by Camrys. Still some of that out there, although both marquees have declined in the value proposition of price/quality/TCO.

And don't forget. Almost anything you drive (other than Jay Leno type cars) you'll 'see' more of on the road, mostly because your eye is suddenly drawn to what you already have.

They have. And they claim a comeback in the Chevy/GMC line this year. I think they are bloated pigs. And I'm wagering the next gen Tacoma will unfortunately blossom more as well.

    Almost nothing ever gets smaller...........

Think Datsun/Nissan Z cars. Mazda Miatas. Tacomas, Tundras, Chevy S10s - Colorado - new Colorado.

I hope I'm wrong. But so far there is nothing to indicate that I am.

Regardless, I'm glad I'm in the current truck lemming group. I keep rides a longggg time, and all this popularity keeps the aftermarket well oiled, as well as the wrecking yards for when I need other bits later.

    Sometimes things do:

Those things are about the same length as my DCLB Tacoma--A full 2 ft longer than an early 2000s Taurus wagon. I'm partial to the Colony Park/Country Squire, but the Roadmaster wagon was equally enormous.

I see company work truck regular cab tacos all the time but only a few normal tacos and they are all pretty much stock. Very rare for me to see a modded one. When I was in Cali I saw modded ones all over the place.

I snorted a bit when I saw this. The Family Truckster is an excellent example of a family vehicle that got smaller.

My buddy in high school drove a 76' Cordoba. It only had 2 doors but was as long as this wagon.

I think the Tacoma is a great size. Yes, its larger than the 1st Gens but I can put my 2 teenage kids in the back with ease and it still fits in my garage. For me, its perfect. It always surprises me the see that the F-150 gets better gas mileage than my Tacoma. Grr.

Its interesting to me to see the different perspectives depending on where you live. 4x4 mod'ed Tacomas are rampant in Utah. Its Moab country. Sadly, many are just mall crawlers that never see the dirt. That's OK too. No knocking anyone.

The first engine to be rated at 400 HP--the Mercury "Super Marauder" was put into some Colony Park wagons (amongst other models). I'd love to have one of the '58s with that motor under the hood.

My uncle had a late 80s one and it was loaded with heated leather and everything. Sold it to a guy who drive it cross-country. The things look like pirate ships on wheels, but I still love them.

big diesels especially Fords are big here too but so are Tacos. I see lots of red ones which is one reason I wanted a white Baja. I have yet to see another white Baja.

I live in a small town and there are at least 8 super white 4x4,s that look identical to mine . People are always waving at me thinking I am the other driver and asking why I am never at work ,just driving the truck up and down the highway . Other guys at work ask how the heck I made it to work before them because they past the gas station and apparently I was filling up with gas again:D

There are 1200 employees where I work and the Tacoma /Tundra population is growing every day .
We are in a competition for the sweetest Taco
I am the only taco with ditch light led,s on the hood so far

    No significant mods....yet
Along the front range of Colorado you can't not come across one on the road. You drive to your local convenience store and you're guaranteed to see at least one, no joke. They've been around so much it probably had become a part of my subconscious and I just had to go get one.

In Boulder, the Subaru Outback is like a widespread plague. Boulder is practically the Subaru capital of the U.S.

Visit Boone, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk area of NC sometime. Some competition from there for that title, and it started when Outbacks were still small, back in the 90's.

Maybe it has to do with being snow/ski areas that start with 'B'? :D

I too just moved to NC but from New Jersey. Jersey there was a decent amount, a lot of 1st gens actually.
The part of NC I live though, everyone and their mom has a tacoma. down the street from me theres a big used car lot that only has lifted 2nd gens and FJ's.

The most common tacomas I see are 12-14's. 4x4 Tacomas are very rare.
Funny thing is I live with my brother and we both drive '13 4x4's, parked in the same driveway.

I have a TX baja, bought it in Jersey, modded quite a bit. Every time I drive it I get waved at, and people always want to talk when I park. I've only driven rare (some more than others) cars, all heavily modified, vw corrado, vw gti, mazda mx-3, dodge neon srt-4, scion xb2. Tacoma probably being the least modified, but easily getting the most attention.

Like I said, here in the south 4x4 tacos are pretty rare. TX bajas, for get about it, I've yet to see one since I moved from up north. So I certainly drive mine with pride.

Ditto, but that's what you get when a vehicle has been in production a decade.

I wish Tacomas were recognized as more of a "off road vehicle" then just a midsize pickup truck. I love seeing older Toyota pickups, tacomas, fj's and 4 runners with mods and stuff. Toyota is the shit! lol

Here in Fayetteville, I can't count the Tacomas I see throughout my day. I always see one at a stop light or when I get on post (maybe because I have one now, when I had a Challenger it seemed like they were everywhere). My wife even takes pics of Tacos and sends me ideas. Most of the Tacos here are Prerunners and if they have had anything done to them they are street queens. Sometimes, I'll walk out of a store and see another one parked next to mine :kona:

Between 2005 and 2013, there were 1,294,652 Tacoma's sold. It's not like they are some uber rare supercar man. All I know is that there aren't any running around like mine.
