I really need help choosing speakers. I want them loud, but clear. I was told the Focal 165AS do not get as loud as Polk SR. Anyone have experiences with either of these or have opinions?

Focals, I've used lesser speakers, and I've used focal 165's, there's no comparison.

I agree. What I will add is you need to have adequate clean power to drive the Focals to get the best sound. I do not mean power to be loud, I am referring to power to drive the speakers most efficiently. You will get load as a by product I am sure.

I am a Polk fan but have found they sometimes have annoying highs. I used MB Quart for many years and loved them but modern MB Quart is not the same quality IMO.

Good luck with your decision.

I currently have the Focals Access components with about 75 watts going to them. i listen to them pretty high majority of the time and they do get loud IMO. I have had them installed for over a year. My Tweeters are starting to fail as i hear a bad scratching at certain frequencies. for the most part i am satisfied with them...they are a little harsh on the higher frequencies. I will be upgrading to Hybrid Audio's in the near future.
