Yeah, Scuba Stuff is a bit pricey in MD, but were also not doing bulk like you guys are, so we dont get a volume discount

Also, op, take a picture of the lettering stamped onto the tank, that will give us the numbers we need

Hydrostatic testing is every 5 years. The original hydro done when that tank was made is from '98, so it would have to have another spot along that same area of the tank with a 4 digit month/year. The dead giveaway would be a stamped area with no yellow paint inside of the numbers. Hydro is only $35 at locally for me at a chain sporting goods store, but may be more in your neck of the woods.

Scuba tanks have a burst disk on the 1st stage (valve at top) to prevent them from blowing up. Not sure what it takes for that to happen short of the tank busting the 1st stage off.

Definitely NOT liquid CO2 in a scuba tank.

FOR the OP: You'll probably get more air out of a liquid CO2 setup
But yea.... Onboard Air - Liquid CO2 in the proper tank.

You would be far better off purchasing a small (lighter outlet) plug in compressor for that very use. You can get some nice ones with a gauge and case that will store nicely. Some even come in a reflective case for emergencies.

Is there a reason a scuba shop can't fill the tank? They will check for a current hydrotest. After they fill it, put a regulator on it. You will now have a huge volume of air to power air tools/fill tires.
