    ...I am not sure if my engine has ever had synthetic oil. I have a 2010 with 27,000 miles. I have only had it for 3,500 miles and I am doing an oil change tomorrow. Think I should start using synthetic oil? Thanks

    Sure if you want to. Both Pros and Cons, it will go on forever on this forum, just change it on a regular basis depending on your engine type and year of truck.

    i swapped over to synthetic at about 35k miles and change my oil every 10k now but still change the filter out every 5k. mobil 1 for the oil. everyone is going to have their own opinion though on this subject and people get very opinionated, so take it with a grain of salt.

    I recommend you make the switch. It's old technology vs new is how i look at it. So long as you do regular changes whatever you use your truck will be happy for a long time. Enjoy!

    i do 6k miles with oil n filter with mobile 1 full syn... picked up ~ 1mpg by doing so. Started since 10k miles on my truck wont be looking back.

    Synthetic flows better in extreme cold. Thats why I run it. VT winters, Brrrrrrr!

    Wise choice. Just make sure whichever brand you pick, that it's full synthetic, not the ( blends). ;)

    Other than cost, synthetic is better than conventional oil in every/any situation. Slightly better fuel mileage won't offset the cost but internal friction is less and bearing wear is pretty much eliminated.
