The thing for a 4wd lift spindle is in the form of a drop bracket lift. There's really no way to a 4wd with lift spindles since the spindles lower where the wheel hub is at. So your cv axles would be at a very extreme angle with no real way of fixing it

I have a question for you guys. Some people have 2WD and wish they had 4wd and would buy 4x4 next time, but I notice some of you deliberately purchase prerunners. May I ask what the reason for that is? I'm not dissing 2wd, I myself am a prerunner. Thanks!

definitely initial purchase cost and then availability for me, down in FL lot more prerunners to be found on the used market

and thirdly was the anticipated 2 mpg less fuel economy for never needing 4wd

ALSO, got the maxtrac stuff, thanks bob!!!!

it was a choice that I had made since I never thought id ever do any offroading when I bought my taco lol. at times I wish I got a 4x4 but I love my prerunner :D. we get spindles to lift our front end! and dont need to worry about CVs and drop brackets haha. Prerunner is a nice challenge, I love it when my buddies say I wont be able to make it...and then I prove them wrong haha

The price of the 4wd is too much. I don't really NEED it or at least I didn't think I did when I got the truck. I'm actually very happy with my prerunner, I can't offroad like 4wds can but it makes it a challenge.

There's also less things that can break on a PreRunner. :notsure:

Like others have said, cost, slightly better mpg & less stuff to break.
In my case I had a 4x4 for 7 years, I only used it a couple times but still had to fix both cv axles & front drive shaft. I couldn't see spending an extra 5 grand for something I might use.

Thanks for the great answers everyone! Exactly what I was looking for. I thought the cost was only a couple thousand tops, is the price difference really $5000 equally equipped from 2 to 4 wheel drive??? I have never heard of it being that much. I'll have to do some research

I guess it really depends on trim, its probably more like $5k from an sr5 to a 4x4 but still a couple grand between equally equipped. I got my sport for a little over 26k & a 4x4 was like 30k. Right now that same dealer has a '15 sport prerunner for like $28,800 & a '15 off road 4x4 for $30,900.

That's sounds like Clearwater Toyota's pricing:D Only paid 25 for mine. The good thing is the value they hold whether prerunner or 4x4.
