Remote start help needed-2012 Toyota Tacoma

I just joined this forum. I need help troubleshooting remote start installation problems. I'm using a local professional to install an Excalibur remote start system in my dads Toyota Tacoma as an Xmas gift surprise. Here's what happened and now I have to go back tomorrow to finish. By the way, I'm not too vehicle savvy.

I picked the truck up after it was done. Couldn't get the truck to accelerate on the interstate. Got off at the next exit about a half mile away and the front brakes were smoking. Rotors were cherry red hoy. What happened? Did something with the anti-theft activate? Anything happened with the anti-lock brakes? Any ideas? The installer did respond and met me along the road, supposedly he took off the wire they had attached to the "tach" and it appeared to have worked. Monday they are going to rewire and supposedly attach that same wire to the "tach" via the fuel injector. any thoughts or recommendations.

Lastly, the installer has mentioned nothing about putting a chipped key under the dash, etc. What can you tell me?

This installer has been in business for over 24 years. Supposedly he knows what he's doing?

Sounds like he owes you a brake job as well . If the rotors did get that hot , you can almost bet they are warped

They most likely used a bypass unit so the key is not needed.

 

Thanks. Ole yes rotors are shot. Discussion tomorrow on the brake job he owes me.

 

Anyone have any idea why the brakes may have locked up on the front only?

 

Idea ? the owner passed the job over to the highschool student he has working in the back of the shop . Kid accidently bypasses the wrong wires and taps into the brake switch and abs system .....Just a thought mind you
