I just upgraded from a 2010 SR5 to a 2015 TRD Sport. In 2010 I found a handy little sequence here on TW to turn off the seat belt chime. Apparently that no longer works. Has anyone heard of a new way to turn it off? Any help would be appreciated.:)

Sometimes it's not feasible to buckle up.

Working on a farm you're constantly checking fences, jumping out of the truck to check something and a seat belt just gets in the way. It would be nice to be able to turn off the chime.

You can, but for me it's not comfortable.

2012+'s no longer can you do the key / odo sequence

gonna have to either 1. take it to the dealer. or 2. Get yourself an OBD bluetooth adaptor, connect it to your computer, use putty or any other ssh / telnet client to actually change the setting on the ECU.

#2 is how i disabled it on my 2013.

He's serious. There is no code for '12+. As previously stated, you can get a tacoma seat belt buckle (plug) from eBay or reprogram with an OBD and laptop/software. I went with the eBay option. Cost me $5 and I can plug it into the female connector whenever I want it disabled.

Ok, to be clear, I do wear my belt, but don't want the agravation of the chimes. The red light on the dash works, just don't bug me with the chimes!
Truly, I'd get it on sooner if it were more accessible! Buried down low on the side, it usually has to wait till I get to the corner stop sign.
Guess I'll have the dealership reprogram the damn thing.

Most dealers will not disable it, as it is a "safety feature". With that said go to dealer and tell the parts counter that you need a seat belt extension and they will get you one free of charge. When you get that cut the buckle off and viola....Seat belt alarm silencer key!!! This is what I did.

Thanks, but that would defeat the belt altogether! I just want the chime to go away till I get a round tuit!

Show the dealer the page in the Owners manual that calls it a customizable feature... and you want it customized.

I just bought the Techstream Software and cable off ebay. It also gives to the capability to monitor sensors and switches engine performance check codes and clear them ... on and on.

i've heard of Ultra Gauge... Is that the same, both useful to have? Transmission temperature? I know, off topic, but don't want to buy something I can't use for multiple tasks.

EDIT: Wow! Just looked it up, $15xx.xx ! and a professional subscription to use the software? I'll go to the dealer!

Dealership disabled mine, no questions asked. They did charge me $50 which I was fine with considering some won't do it at all.
Fwiw I wear my belt at all times when on public roads, but at work (a large campus w/ a 20 mph limit), or simply on my own property, it's great to not have to listen to the beep

    No, don't do that.

I bought the cheap Chinese Knockoff cable with the hacked software off ebay. 35 bucks.

When I brought my truck to the dealership for its 5k mile service I asked them to disable it, and they did with no argument. Just make sure you have them disable both driver and passenger sides.
