It's possible to wedge anything anywhere. Doesn't make it right. For a few bucks... I don't want to worry about a light getting bounced into my engine compartment. After all, with a PreRunner, I don't go rock crawling, I gotta hit shit hard and bounce over!:D:cool:

I agree, for those of us who wheel our trucks and bang them around a lot, we don't want to worry about a 200 dollar light falling into the engine bay and destroying other stuff with it!

How are you going to adjust it if its not attached to a bracket? Shove some cardboard strips under it to get it where you want it:D

What did you use to drill the hole for the switch?

The switch requires a 3/4" hole (which is a little tight), so I used a step bit that goes up to 7/8 and kept opening the hole a little bit at a time until the switch fit in. Also you could use a small drill bit to start your hole in the center of the switch, then open it up to the right size with a 3/4 drill bit.

Once you remove that plastic piece behind the mesh does that mean water can pass through freely into the engine compartment?

Yes, water can come through the opening. I have never experienced any issues in any way with that and I ran this setup on my own truck all last year through a very rainy summer that we usually don't have. Im sure any small amount of water that does pass through will land on the plastic engine cover and evaporate very quickly inside the engine compartment. I really cant see this ever becoming a major issue.

Okay I was just curious was all. Even with the plastic cover installed a little water passes through anyways so I'm sure its no biggie, thanks!

I imagine the worst that would happen is water gets on the fan belt. One of my old cars had a vent in the hood that allowed this to happen. The belt would squeak for less than a minute starting the car. Since the hood slopes away from the scoop, rather than to it like my old car, I don't even see this being an issue.

Thanks guys, I have plenty of these kits in stock, I would just have to order the light style of your choice if you will be purchasing the light from me.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
I just want to say great innovation and use of an otherwise sorta cool but worthless scoop option. I am sure you get this quite a bit, but is there anything in the works for a late model setup, 2014 models?

If not, no worries, i found some used chewing gum to just stick it in front of the scoop and then wire it directly to the battery when i want to turn it on......LOL. What an ass.

Thank you! I wanted to try to use the scoop area for something since it is not functional. I do have some stuff in the works for the 12 and up Tacomas with a scoop. I have been looking into which companies offer lightbars that are more narrow than the rigid lights since the newer scoop is much more lower profile. Im hoping by next week sometime I will be test fitting on a friends truck and designing a kit. I will keep everyone updated as this progresses.;)

this is very cool. kind of expensive for a light. If I ever decide to do this the kit is the way to go. I understand that the light itself is what makes this $300. The light is not cheap anywhere.

yeah the Rigid lights are expensive, but also fit the best and are very good quality. I am selling the lightbar to my customers for 225.00 each which is a good price compared to anywhere else you look.

Got my Rigid Industries SR2 10" Driving pattern (#91061) light bar installed today with this bracket! The instructions on page 1 and 2 were great and very easy to follow. Just follow the steps in the order that he says.

This light bar produces so much more light than my duallys and D2 pods its crazy. There is no glare off of the hood, either, you really can't tell that it is on, aside from the fact that it's daylight in front of your truck!

I really like the Driving pattern with this set up, it lights up a wide area in front of my truck, but still throwing far too.
