Kidney stones are no joke man. A buddy of mine has been going through that for months now and finally had to have surgery and now has complications from that they're trying to track down. Get better soon man.

As for electrical: since you have access to your basement do NOT damage your drywall. Get an idea for the general area and make sure it's clear. Then drive a nail through downward under the drywall next to the tile so you can see where you are from the basement. Now drill upwards using a 1/2"-1" spade bit through the floorboard & 2x4 at the bottom of that wall. Pull the receptacle and put a hole in the bottom of your outlet box. to into your electrical and run a line down into the basement. Before you go down to pull it find out for sure where your 2x4's are in the area where you want to put the switch. Measure from the line you just pulled to the first 2x4 and then the 2nd one and drill right in between those measurements w/the same spade bit. This will give you some wiggle room since you're using a cut in box for the switch. Cut your hole for your box and run a fish stick down through the hole you drilled, pull up the wire you already dropped down and you're into your switch box.

The term you're looking for for the motion detector thingy is an occupancy sensor. They're a bit spendy for the good ones but make sure you get a good one or you will have issues and will be messing with it regularly before you finally spend the money to get a good one.

Since you said you have access to the basement below this area it should be a rather easy installation if you measure twice and cut once.

Adding outlet to closet on back of wall. Other side of closet wall is bathroom sink cabinet.

Sure. I pretended to be an electrician for a bit and that's how we would have approached your install. Drywall damage and turning off breakers is for hacks! :D

Where does that wire come from and go to? It doesn't look like a pro did that at all. Shouldn't be snaking around plumbing like that and it should be stapled up to the rafters above. They look to be insulated so... air conditioning lines?

Those water lines I assume are the sink above it. I think the outlet for wire

An alternative to the occupancy sensor is to put a momentary-off pushbutton switch in the door jamb (on the hinge side of the door). Light comes on when you open the door and goes off when you shut it. They make recessed ones specifically for this, pretty sure my local ACE store has them.

Based on the pictures, it looks like empty wall on the hinge side of the door. Might be simpler to drill through the door jamb, then run wire down there and bring it up to your power source (the outlet) on the other side.

Otherwise, everything Ostrich said is spot-on!

Wire comes direct from the breaker panel so it's def going straight to this in the bathroom:

Those push button pressure sensors fail constantly. I've got a couple I bought a decade ago I never got around to installing in a pantry & linen closet & I'm glad I never did. The occupancy sensors are much more reliable since they don't have moving parts or contacts to worry about.

Based on the professionalism of that wire pull I'd test that GFI outlet in the bathroom to make sure it's wired properly.
