Looks like a damn good battery. AGM is the way to go, and you got the best. You do have the high security lock mod on your hood, right?

The Northstar had better specs than the Odyssey I was considering for essentially the same price

I used to swear by Optimas but the last two I bought were crap. Save your money on the big names and just get something with a good warranty for a good price.

Last week I did a preventative change out of the OEM battery. My son got a small discount on a Duralast Gold with a 3 year free replacement warranty.
When he installed the battery he had a gizmo that plugged in to the computer port & saved all my stuff. Pretty cool.

Actually the big three battery manufacturers in the U.S. on order of size are Johnson Controls, Exide and East Penn. For a list of battery branding or private labeling, please see LEAD-ACID BATTERY MANUFACTURERS AND BRAND NAMES LIST 2015 on www.batteryfaq.org. My understanding is that Delphi wet "Maintenance Free" starting batteries are now made by Johnson Controls and are non-sealed which will significantly improve their service life in hot climates, because distilled water can be added when required.

Spiral wound AGM batteries are designed for extremely high vibration; AGM flat plate medium vibration; wet marine and commercial batteries for low vibration; and wet car batteries for on road applications. Starting batteries are designed for shallow discharges (< 5%) and deep cycle batteries for deep discharges. A deep cycle battery can be used for starting engines if the cranking amp requirements can be met in the lowest operating temperature, but a starting battery is not recommended in deep cycle applications.

IMHO, battery service life is based on a number of things, but mostly driving habits (keeping the battery fully charged), properly maintained, average depth-of-discharge, and number of cycles.

    How's it been?

Did you require the height adapter?

    Factory hold downs?

    Thanks

so i want to upgrade my battery to a high end battery.

i know nothing about car batteries. just go to autozone, give them my vehicle info and bam!

I see you guys talk highly about northstar and odyssey. How do i know if i am picking the right battery? (i didnt see a look up menu for my vehicle?)

Do i just match cranking amps, make sure it fits dimensionwise, get top posts and thats it?

I plan to have a lot of offroad goodies.. lights, winch, etc.

I see you guys talk about a battery having a good deep cycle, what does this mean?

anything else i need to look for?

    Thanks

Had my Northstar AGM 26F for a few months, it's tight to get the OEM battery tie hold down but it does work. True test will be over the course of time, couldn't tell you anything bad other than the initial price tag.

Northstar makes stout batteries and relatively easy to get a hold of. Stay far away from Optima, Imo Nsb group 31 is the best battery to toss in there. You will need to fab or make a custom bracket but Well worth it

The major difference between a deep cycle and car (starting) battery is the plate surface area. Car batteries are designed to produce high current for a few seconds to start an engine and then be recharged. They have shallow discharges typically less than 5%, thinner plates, and produce thousands of discharge-charge cycles. Deep cycle batteries are designed for low current discharges up to 80%, thicker plates, and typically 200-800 cycles. A car battery used as a deep cycle battery typically will fail within the first 50 cycles; whereas, a deep cycle can start an engine if it is capable of producing enough changing amps.

For more information, please see Section 7 in the Car and Deep Cycle FAQ on www.batteryfaq.org.
