sound system upgrade time

i have a 2007 trd dbsb non jbl all stock sound system

i am looking to upgrade my cd player and speakers..

what i want in my cd play
1. single din
2. blue tooth for Pandora and iTunes
3. plenty of audio adjustment
4. maintain my steering wheel audio controls
5. cd capable

what i want in audio package
1. more power then stock!!!
2. clear highs
3. strong low and mid with good hit for my rock music
4. reliable problem free experience ( isn't that why we all are on here)

my questions
1.what am i missing? does this all add up to a complete system that will make me happy? i am new to this whole audio system technology. yes i have basic knowledge through research and talking to friends about what they have

2.also i have good mechanic skills and basic wiring skills and tools
do you guys feel this is a project i could tackle if i do my research? i have installed plug and play speaker and deck systems in the past

3. what youw you guys recommend for connection my speaker wire from my amp to my speakers. i am thinkin about just soldering it and heat shrink over the solder???

1. You have everything you need to do the install from what I can see. However, you are selecting a lot of lower end items. They will sound better than stock but it may not meet your needs. It's hard to say as everyones idea of what sounds good is different.

2. This is a big job and will take a lot of time. If this is your first stereo install I'd highly suggest to get help from someone who knows what they are doing. Lots can go wrong, lots of little tricks you need to know.

3. I always order more wire than what I need incase things change. 50ft is always more than enough and gives you tons of extra to play with.


Are you planning on adding subs?

I'd HIGHLY suggest you look into sound deadening your doors for more mid bass response. I'd talk to Jason at Raamaudio if you have any questions. Their help page will show you how to deaden the doors. Since you are taking the panels off, this the best bang for your buck you can get for your truck when it comes to increasing audio.

i will look into Raamaudio thanks for the tips.
i also changed the amp after doing more research and changed the wiring kit. also added the rca patch cable, as i missed that while setting up the system when i first started looking

 

What the hell are amp watts

 

He's talking about the wattage of his amplifier, as in "p=ei," not making up new units of electrical measurement.

 

but.... why?

 

Who can say, really? Just buy an amp that puts out an RMS per channel that your speakers can handle. Look at RMS, not PEAK.

 

I'm all for carefully planning how much power you should feed your speakers, but I've never heard of the 75% - 150% thing that he was talking about. I usually give my speakers more than their peak rating, along with some very careful tuning.

That's what I was about to say he got it from. Just don't get to lost in the numbers and give yourself a headache, but props for researching the bamboozle out of it because that's what im doing
