yep, on the 4 cyl it does wonders. however, im also thinking about removing the intake resonator as well for increased sound of the throttle body. any body done this? its also called the elbow mod.

You have any pictures of where this is? I did that mod on the cobalts, and it did wonders as well. Id recommended it. Found more info by Searching for "elbow mod" with quotes... Thinking I might remove it, cut it to look factory from engine bay and remount it without the elbow...

That is just the elbow for the resonator, I dont think I will take the full housing out.

Secondary air filter removed, elbow mod, BFG T/A KO (31x10.5R15), 15" American Racing Mojaves, BHLM, Dome Light MOD (Blue), Pioneer headunit, Sockmonkey 'TACOMA' Decals, Readylift 5-lug SST, Rear Shocks - Bilstein TRD, Dynomax Super Turbo #17748, DDM Slim Ballast HID Kit H4 Hi/Lo -35W 6000K in headlights, Apexcone Raptor HID Kit H3 - 35W 6000K in Hella 500s, aFe CAI #51-10762, WeatherTech Floorliner, 200W Smart AC Inverter

That is the piece I completely removed from my Tacoma. I had it off my Tacoma for about 2 years. After I removed it, I notice an increase in throttle response. I had no prior MPG numbers before I did the MOD, so I can not say this MOD increased or decreased my MPG.

Does removing the secondary filter cause the check engine light to turn on? My light turned on after a couple of months but that's all I could think would be wrong.

removing the air filter will not set off teh check engine light. that was one of the things i was worried about it when i did this. the only thing it does is free up some ariflow to the engine. dealerships will tell you this,(that it screw up your eninge) to try to ward off people from tampering from their shit. but under the magnuson -moss act, tehy have to prove if any performacnce mod is the cause of any issues. they jsut cant calim BS and expect you to buy it. but it will do wonders for your 4 cyl. 6cyl not so much.

my truck is always dropping to lower gear as soon as i hit a small incline while using cruise control. I want to try this to see if it might help. Plus its so gutless. Will I have to re-install this secondary filter before getting it smoged each year?

Been about three tanks since I did this as well as switching to Royal Purple.

Best mileage so far? 21.6 mpg. Best mileage before any of that? 23mpg on a tank that was all highway.

Seems I can't get past the 22mpg barrier with regular driving.
