I will get a 2016 if it is diesel with a solid front axle :) Otherwise my 2014 will be good for a while!

I don't know. My 2005 only has 88K miles and is still running strong. I could spend a few bucks on mods here and there to keep things fun and still pay much less that I would with a new truck payment on a (potentially) $40K Tacoma. Perhaps in another 5 years I'll be ready.

I will most likely be ordering one the day they become available, if the changes are major. Will need one readily available to me to ensure all parts are perfect for new armor options
That means selling my 2012 which is going to be very difficult, it has been the absolute best vehicle I have ever owned and I am very pleased with its abilities at its current build level. Someone will be very stoked to buy it I'm sure

I've been burned twice by buying a first run vehicle. Won't do that again.

Toyota's quality isn't in question but there will most always be a few bugs to be ironed out. If I were to buy a first run vehicle it would be a Toyota.

Funny, as I am thinking the exact opposite. My first model year 89 was rock solid even head gasket wasn't a problem. My 05 had no major issues, at least no more than than ones over the next few years.

With that said the 86, 89 and 99 4R I had were extremely reliable compared to the 05. First and foremost I hope Toyota doesn't lose their competitive advantage with the new one as being reliable.

I hope to drive my 2014 DCSB to well over 300K like that one. 2006 on here, but if mine were to meet some unfortunate demise, and the 3rd gen proved to be as capable as the 5th gen T4R, I would consider it.

Some of you guys are repeating like parrots that the 2016 will be a faulty trucks.
No! Toyota has been making trucks for a long time. They have done countless R&D. The trucks they have made and learned from, those experiences will be applied to whatever new truck they release in future. That means whatever they learned and fixed on Gen 1, Gen 2 will be implemented.

    So stop it.

Won't be upgrading anytime soon. My 07 doesn't even have 50k yet.

Faults or none I wouldn't buy a long in tooth 2nd gen when the next is right around the corner.

At a minimum it is going to make it look really dated right off the bat. Look at the diff between first and second gen.

I couldn't be happier that I got the last of the 2nd gen and am going to try and keep it as long as possible.
The new model i'm sure will be a very nice truck and I think there will be few if any issues with the new release. My issue would be waiting for aftermarket parts and pieces.

Really no way to know until 6+ years have gone by, and even then, no guarantee.

My 2006 taco short bed double cab has 85k and many miles to go. I only wish I had a long bed on my dc. Toyota may have to up the game after GM release though.

Will I want one? Yeah, but my '10 only has 110k miles on it, which means I have at least 90k more to go before I really want to be looking for something else. My wife's '05 Jeep with 120k will need replacing in the next few years though. Plus, I'm back in graduate school right now and will graduate in 1.5 years...so the Jeep will be replaced then, but I don't see her going for a Tacoma...she's digging the Subarus.

I'll look at a 2nd year model of the 3rd generation. I'll have 100,000 miles on my 2014 and a child turning 16 that can have my current truck

I'll buy one as a retirement gift on my 50th birthday. Until then I'll be happy with my 13. It's just turned over 12k miles this month.
