That one part was worth more than your totaled truck in scrap.

    Glad you're okay.

Though I'm concerned that the trend I see in the "totaled my 1st gen" threads is that the airbags aren't deploying.

I was in a high speed wreck once (as a passenger) I know how scary it is in the moment, how you can't remember details (which is also scary) and how sore you will be for a couple of weeks.

I hope you heal well (mentally and physically) and glad you are able to celebrate a new year.

Welcome to TW.... hope you get another 1st gen so you can stick around here too.

I am beating the tards to it by inserting the obligatory #2,#3,#4 and #5 "that will buff out" comment.

BTW you are pretty lucky to have walked away from that one.

Thanks everyone who commented on how fortunate I am to have survived this. I do remember holding on tight to the steering wheel and saying to myself - "I'm going to be okay". I just knew my taco wouldn't let me down.

I'd like to get another TRD. I have a 40+ mile commute to work daily on country roads. Lots of deer (especially this time of year).

    Thanks, all :)

In Texas things can be different...a single vehicle mishap, no other traffic, during a holiday period, and the large amount of flat, straight, FAST roads, plus a culture of drinking and driving leads question being asked...

I had a buddy who ran a heavy wrecker company in Canton, Texas, 75 miles east of Dallas, often stated most single vehicle wrecks after dark were alcohol related.

But in this case, no sign of compromised driving and the truck saved the drivers life.

You definitely had a little luck on your side to walk away from that with out serious injury.Yours looks a lot worse than mine did after I was rearended at highway speed at night by a idiot and rolled it.24f19153de643b1952f30622a1d3fab8_39d9a6d86caa41c2e03a2d5b754424d477f19098.jpg Hope you find another 1

Sorry about the truck. Had an 01 in my previous life, awesome truck. Happy to hear you are ok. I have seen vehicles with way less damage where it ended in a fatality. Go buy a lotto ticket. :D

The OP is a female, that being said, Bama should be by soon to offer assistance and consolation with an uncomfortably heavy dose of charm. :D

glad your ok, a second gen wouldn't have faired as well and folded in half with its plastic bed and you might not be here. but second (and 3rd) gen guys stay in denial that a steel bed is a lot stronger and safer then plastic composite beds. yours is the perfect example of why steel is better.

Pics like that are disturbing. Glad your OK, and the cab held up. What bothers me is I've heard the airbag didn't deploy more than once on these forums. Cant rely on them it seems.
