Go with .308 or 6.8 if you HAVE to have something more than 5.56. 6.8 is proven to be utterly nasty on hogs and white tail. .300AAC has proven popular because of the things you don't need to change on a 5.56 gun to run it. Basically its just a barrel, everything else remains the same. Basically from all the tests I've witnessed super sonic .300blk is similar in performance to 7.62X39 and subsonic is like shooting .44mag. Both of those cartridges are much cheaper than .300blk

It will be very interesting to see how the Sig brace issue plays out now that the ATF has written an opinion that says that shooting one of these from the shoulder constitutes the construction of an SBR. I'm guessing Sig pursues some clarification ASAP.

The trouble le is people keep asking. They issued a decision and people keep asking for more. And technically that is a clarification issued to one person only.

Someone had to keep poking the bear, and the bear has now awakened. I applaud Sig for marketing the device. It was a good run while it lasted. I never bought one, I would not want to be the test case for it.

The bottom line up front from the memorandums posted below is that by shouldering the brace, the ATF's new opinion is that you are creating ("manufacturing") an SBR. Without a tax stamp, that will land you in the slammer.

Second page, second paragraph from the bottom:

Just have to wait and see on the braces. Since there are now two contradicting letters from the ATF. One says its perfectly legal, the other that is not.

Though I see the end of the sig brace. Recent letters on other braces and options have all mentioned not shouldering the brace. I don't think the ATF figured so many people would use the brace as a way around the NFA SBR requirements

Nor will I. In fact, I've not thought of it until the ATF brought it up again...and again....:).

Interesting indeed. Yet, so very obvious that there would be an issue at some point with the brace and ATF. Don't get me wrong but, I guarantee agents at the ATF are still scratching their head wondering how they justified the brace in the first place. Going to be an interesting back pedal. Yet, somehow the ATF always wins.
