Not really sure... Anything not a 4 banger... Top speed is 60 mph.. If im spending 4,000$ out the door, I want to be able to Dailey drive and go above 70mph.. And be able to tow small trailer when needed and not struggle or fight my tire weight... Suggestions on easy less expensive swap and shop location , wouldn't mind a small Diesel engine either

not going to do a diesel conversion on 4k unless you get a used 4BT. Got a buddy in Canton, used to run a Pontiac/GMC dealership, who does one off stuff like this.

Do you already have a motor sitting ready to go? If it's not a direct replacement, do you have the ancillary parts that will need changing to make it all compatible?

If the answer is no to either of those, chances are you'll need a bigger budget.

And if I was the shop, and you as a stranger toted in a motor of unknown heritage, I'd be reluctant to guarantee the results of the job unless you were willing to let me do a fair amount of pre install diagnostics. Bring me a crate motor and we'd be good.

And I'd be real careful about a shop that says 'I can start tomorrow'. To me that would mean they don't have enough work to keep them busy, so the question becomes 'why?'

Best case scenario is swapping in a 5vz, über reliable and practically bulletproof. Might be able to put some money into a supercharger as well..

I'm thinking there is something wrong with your current motor. Any ideas what?

You may have a much cheaper cure available.

Two things that pop to mind regarding higher RPM restrictions (ie higher speeds) is a clogged fuel filter and/or injectors, a cat that is starting to fail causing a partial restriction, or even a muffler that has its guts causing an obstruction.

He can source a reasonably decent v6, the ancillary bits needed for the swap (like an ECU, wiring, exhaust, etc) AND pay someone else to do all the work for less than $4k?

Wow, parts and labor rates in Tx must be really low...........

I have nothing wrong with my current motor other then the slowness of it fighting my 35" in tires... I may look into regear... Just wanted a bigger motor and I don't know if they have a supercharger really for a 2.7 liter 4cyl... I can find ebay and craigslist motors all day that are from company's or wrecked vehicles that have the tested and can prove it runs and ready for swap motor and tranny combo for 12-1500... Leaving my install fees to 2500 or so...

Is there a shop where I can get a quote wrote up around Dallas area. I've been researching , would really prefer a big new engine compared to a regear. It's still a 4cyl at the end of the day......

How about a regear and a freshened motor? Your budget should support that...

What's the install price of supercharger and where can I get it done at then?
