I recently bought a high mileage 2002 standard cab with 4WD and the 3RZ. When I got it, the engine was running rough and there was not a lot of low end, which was especially noticeable when starting out in first gear (manual tranny). I replaced the fuel filter and plugs. I tried the Techron stuff and had no appreciable change. On a whim, I started putting MMO in the fuel and have noticed a huge difference. So far I've run 36 ounces through the tank and I have better power and much smoother operation. What is in this stuff? I can't imagine what it has done. Carbon off valves? Lube the fuel pump? Does anyone have any ideas?

adding oil with your gas will increase compression by making a better ring seal in the cylinders, could be its as simple as that, but it also fouls plugs too.

your engine might just have low compression and power loss from worn rings so do a compression test and see what numbers you get

also how many miles does it have?

Hmmm, Man, I hope you're calling a worst case! The motor has 175K miles, most of which were added doing 150 mile commutes on the highway. Maintenance was oil changes every 4K miles and the usual recommended stuff. Motor does not burn any oil that I have been able to measure since I changed it. I have about 750 miles so far on the change.

well I find MMO is good for older engines to loosen up sticky lifters and such but I prefer standard designated fuel system cleaners and use MMO for cleaning my oil and lubrication systems

try running some B-12 fuel system cleaner through it and see how it acts, also did you replace the fuel filter? its tucked way up under the intake manifold where you can barely even see it. if you haven't replaced it yet then relocate it when you replace it. see my filter relocation thread here on how to do it: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1s...diy-2-4l-2-7l-fuel-filter-relocation-mod.html

Add to the fuel is good. Be careful when adding to your oil? It will thin it out. You could try sea foam through a vacuum source. Follow the directions.

Not to be a smart ass, but if they knew what was in it, they wouldn't call it "Mystery Oil" now would they?

It's good stuff! Even doubles as a penetrating oil if you leave it soak long enough.
