Wheres the best place to have tires balanced in Houston? Read in several other threads that a " heweka adapter kit" is needed to balance the factory alloy wheels. I've already had Discount Tire balance them 4 times including a road force balance and the truck shakes terribly from 50-75. Talked to Toyota of Alvin and the first service writer said that I was correct and there was a special tool and method to balance them but when I called back to schedule an appointment, a different service writer said all wheels are balanced the same and never heard of the heweka adapter kit. I also called Auto Nation Toyota but they seem the least knowledgeable of everyone I talked to.

The only big deal about the factory alloys is the large hub diameter. If the shop doesn't have the correct hub insert they won't be able to balance them. I road force balance my tires at EVS motors on Bellaire. It's expensive, but they do right by me. I only balanced my old tires once and then maintained them with a steady rotation schedule.

I know EVS has the correct adapter for our wheels as they had to buy one the first time I brought my truck to them.

So is this a common problem or is possible the tires could be bad? Discount agreed to reimburse me if I go to the dealer and they are able to get it to stop shaking. Discount tech said the rims on the rear were bent and thats why the truck shakes, but it didn't shake with the rugged trails and the rear wheels being bent would explain why the steering wheel wants to rip out of my hands.

Sounds like you need a new set of wheels and tires. Did you just put new tires on, or have you been driving on them for a while?

    Truck pictured is new truck.

Old truck was a gas 2500 with 275k miles.

For a gas engine in a truck that's had a lot a miles with a gooseneck attached to get that many miles without an engine rebuild amazes me lol.

I'm sure your old tires were worn in to a certain pattern that took up for the bent wheels. Now you're putting new straight tires on and they won't balance. Go over to EVS and have them balance them for you. They'll be able to tell if your tires are bad real quick.

Ahh I was like that looks like an LB7/LBZ truck. No way that should be retired at 300,000! But yeah a gasser with that many miles is quite the feat.

Negatory. Gonna find a used motor and trans with 100k miles on it and drop it in to keep it for a ranch truck.
