What can i fit under there I was thinking 285/75R16's, 33x12.5R15s are to wide in my opinion. How much of a offset or backspace would I need on the rim to clear? Putting on kings co and tc uca's will be about 2.5inches of lift.

Putting 32-11.5-15 on mine with 2.5" lift. Perfect size imo and so i bought them over 33s.

Yeah on my old tacoma I had the same size with about a 1.75" lift stock rims no spacers barley rubbed. This time around I want a little more tire.

thinking maybe 305/70r16's maybe. The diameter of those and the 285/75r16's are both 32.8". The difference is in width. 285/75r16's are 11.2" wide while the 305/70r16's are 12" wide. Just curious on what setups others are running.

What type of terrain would a wider tire be used for vs a skinner tire?

Power is not a issue i have 4.56 gears and a supercharger. Gonna go with Bfg ko2's. Any other comparable mud terrain tires out there?

Wider tires give you a larger foot print. More contact= more traction (in most cases).

That being said, the thoeries and arguments about this have gone on since the beginning of time.

It gets pretty complicated, but there's 2 main thoughts. Big wide tires give you flotation. Skinny tall tires sink to the bottom to grab traction. That's the readers digest version but you get the idea. Mud and snow are where these 2 theories make the best examples. For rocks, its about the tread pattern and compound for me. My trail tires are usually just a mud terrain in the 33"-35" x 12.5 flavor.

IMHO, a rear locker will serve you better in ALL types of terrain than any tire ever will...

285s will probably work better for you than 305s. I like buying cheaper tires, like maxxis big horns, dunlop mud rovers, falcon wild peak, tires like that. It's really hard for me to spend $1500 on brand name tires. My order of traction upgrades goes as follows, lockers, gears, crawler, then tires.

Ive had dunnlops, the maxxis, toyo mudterrains. Bfg km2s are defiantly worth it for my terrain, not the best mud tire. What size rim would I need. I was thinking 16x8 don't know how much backspacing. Gonna go with the 305's. I have had 32x11.5 and 33x12.5. I think the 305s will be just right. Do you know if I will have to trim anything? Backspacing?

16s or 17s doesn't seem to make too much of a difference. No skinnier than 8" wide though. I would say 3.75"-4.5" BS. I like the lower BS wheels, but that's just me. You should be able to get away with pinch weld massaging. The worst would be some inner wheel well tubing.

regardless of lift 32" is the largest tire you can fit without rub. In fact even then you may hit the pinch weld depending on caster angle. 33" is pretty easy to fit with a hammer to the firewall and using caster out of spec. The further the tire sticks out either due to width or rim backspacing, the more it will contact the firewall. 11.5" wide tires can be fit with stock backspacing but will rub your UCA when the suspension is drooped out. Its not severe but its something to be aware of.

If anyone tells you you need X" of lift to fit X" tire...You punch them right in the mouth. The tire travels the same path as the suspension compresses regardless of spring lift.

Sounds like most with 33s run 4.5" of backspacing. You have any pics of that setup?
