That's probably how mine is I'll look in a bit. I honestly don't recall a button just a manual shift auto option like my old firebird with z gate shifter.

Yep, no overdrive lockout button in the yotas, but moving into S mode does the same functionally, with the benefit of easier downshifting for engine breaking purposes.

That's very reasonable IMHO. It's worth it to not worry about doing it solo and additionally removes the risk of screwing something up because you didn't have that extra set of hands available for the 30 seconds you needed them.

Just my opinion, but unless you have other chrome/stainless steel on the truck, I think without looks cleaner. Also, are you planning lights behind the grill? If so, definitely w/o. You can always leave it off for now and think about it too. Putting it on, then deciding to take it off might leave a trace that'll irritate you even if no one but you sees it. That's how I am anyway ... Like I said, just my opinion.

that's my theory, yes. My belief is that the AT runs up to the top (overdrive) gear, but because the speed is not enough to run in that gear at any pressure, the least amount of grade, or extra throttle peddle pressure, causes it to downshift. That results in "hunting" between overdrive and the next gear down, which IMHO prevents efficient operation of the engine. Worth a try anyway ... Maybe try it across a tank or two to collect some data?

Like I said before, my wife's Escapes were ridiculous for it ... But I never drove them enough to collect any data across multiple fill ups.

And I really hope I'm not sending you on a snipe hunt, but with the numbers you're getting, a little experimentation can't hurt, yes?

 

Yeah. I just filled up so I'll try it for 2 tanks and see how it goes. However I'll be driving more highway miles since school is out and I'm cruising around town... showing off my new grill!
