Bad that I want to Trade 2013 Baja for 2015 F150 2.7 Eco

hmm. so I think I have came to the conclusion to just hold on to my taco. After looking at the values of used f150s... it kind of disgusts me. They literally hold **** value compared to the Tacoma or Tundra. Maybe if Toyota offers to buy my current taco ill be the one who gets there feet wet with one of the 2016s. Maybe even make the switch from a 4x4 to a PreRunner

 

My sister in law traded in her 5.4 08-ish crew cab 4x4 F150 last year for a new platinum crew cab 4x4 with the 3.5 ecoboost. It's a really nice truck. Way nicer inside than my tacoma. But the MPG improvement was hardly noticeable. 1.5-2MPG difference in regular driving. Has more power though. As for reliability I know this is blasphemy on a Toyota forum but I really do believe a modern Ford is every bit as reliable as a modern Toyota. For trucks I happen to like the size and aftermarket support for the Tacoma. But if Ford comes out with a true midsize truck again I may think twice the next time I'm truck shopping. But I don't intend on that for quite a while.

 

I traded my old 1998 F150 for my 2014 Tacoma, loved that F150, great truck.
The only reason I didn't buy another one was due to the size.
The newer ones are so big it would be a very tight fit in the garage.
The Tacoma had a little room to spare, just perfect.

 

I agree with you guys! It will be interesting to see if Ford moves back into the Mid-Size truck field. If they do you think they will call it the ranger again? I wonder if they will try and boast the biggest towing capacity in the mid size truck category? I personally would be very inclined to purchase a Ford Midsize that was updated with a small turbo ecoboost engine that got decent gas mileage and had towing capabilities.

Get the 5.0 in the F150. It's a far better, less complicated mill that's going to last a hell of a lot longer than the 2.7 or 3.5 and makes more power than the 3.5 and nearly as much torque. The 5.0 is half the price of the upgrade to the 3.5 and barely more than the 2.7. Sounds way better too. If you're buying new and comparing it to a new (second gen) Tacoma, the F150 is the better buy, by miles - you're just asking on the wrong site.

The fuel economy argument is a wash. No truck is going to do better than mid to high teens in the city, and low 20's on the highway. If you look at the average amount of miles driven per year and the dollar difference in fuel between the best and worst performers, you're literally talking about a $100-200 dollar difference, per year. If you're willingly driving a truck as a personal vehicle, you've lost the credibility to complain about fuel costs anyway.

 

No, I am familiar with glow plugs as my Kubota uses them.

 

Ford F150s are the reason I now drive a Tacoma. Enough said? Do not buy if they still have the 2 piece drive shaft. Neighbor had one and had to have it fixed 3 times in 80k

 

Why not wait to see what Toyota unveils soonish.

Not true. Ford f150 is the most American truck going.

Do some reading on parts content and assembly. It's over 90% NA parts

 

I think the 2016 Taco is going to be a nice little truck. Updated styling in/out, same "perfect" size, and hopefully a new 6-speed auto(better hwy mpg's??).

 

Big one for me is how bad ford resell value is and they are to plastic for me. Tundra would be my choice for full size for gas gmc for diesel

 

Our local ford dealer is giving away free dogs with every ford truck purchase, so that you will have a friend to walk home with.

I went form a 2008 z71 ex cab. To my baja I love my truck it does everything I need. I looked at ford's and dodges what sold me was resale. I can't believe how well these trucks hold there value.

Hold on to the Baja. Rare Truck. Love the way mine drives and handles, no way I would trade it for an F150 voluntarily.

 

Looked at a new Ford truck recently and can't complain and wont. Loved it.

 

Yeah, I plan on holding on to it, at least until the 2016 tacomas arrive at the dealership. If its ends up being a big overhaul I may end up trading in the Baja for a 2016 pre-runner or sr5 trim. I love the suspension on the Baja ,but since landing on Tacomaworld it is getting harder and harder not to replace the suspension with some icons/foxs/kings etc. Unfortunately I stumbled upon this community after I purchased the Baja for 33k plus tax and some other fees. If I can make the trade for a 2016 and come out even or ahead, then I don't think I will look back at the Baja. The Baja is truly a one of a kind truck for those willing to pay for the package. If I can go from having a $2*,000 lien to possibly a $1*,000 lien and have more then a $100 lower monthly payment I will without a doubt trade for a new 2016 (lower trim level). In the end though, nothing ventured nothing gained. Worst case scenario I keep my Baja! (which is a good problem to have, minus the payments!)
