I am putting a 3'' suspension lift on a 2013 tacoma trd sport with 17'' wheels and was told i would need a spacer to fit 285/70/17 on the truck, do i need hub centric spacers or lug centric spacers for the factory wheels? oh yeah the truck is 4x4 don't know if that makes a difference . can any one help?

You will want hub centric. Check out spidertrax spacers. I have the 1.25". I can't comment on the fitment of the 285's though. I'm still on 265/65-17. I like the wider stance much better.

I have 0.75 BORA spacers on my BAJA with 285 75 16 with FJ rims and they clear fine with the spacers.

FJ wheels have different back spacing than sport wheels

The sports are +30 so the 1.25" spidertrax should put them right at zero.

Our wheels are hub centric, so the spacers should also be. +1 for spidertrax. Found some today on their site that are blemished for $80/pair shipped.

Most people swear by Spidertrax spacers. They are billet aluminum adapters that are hub centric, and are also stud centric. Make sure to torque them properly and use loctite, and you should never have an issue with them.

Hub Centric means that your wheels are centered and supported on the axle by the hubs (there's a raised circle on the hub that the wheel fits snugly around.)

Lug Centric means the lugs and studs are used to center and support your wheels on the axle.

If you use a lug centric spacer when your vehicle needs a hub centric spacer, your wheels can be slightly off center, causing vibration, and you risk damaging your wheel mounting studs and wheels.

    Here are some good links:

I have spidertrax 1.25 OP and no issues so far. I'm running 255/80/17 and rub the mud flaps. I trimmed the shit out of them and still a little rub before full lock. Once I get to full lock no issues.
