Thinking about trading in my Tacoma that I bought new February 2007 for a new one. I have about 110k miles and it's still running fine, but I'm starting to have little problems here and there, one after another.

Are there any major developments with the latest Tacomas that I should know about before looking at new ones?

    Thanks

I'd probably be paying cash for the new one, along with the old one as a trade in, or whatever I can get private sale.

What's new in store for 2016?

Like door ding said no major changes. Just a face lift and some other cosmetic changes.

2016 is suppose to be a redesign. Gonna be shown in January at the auto show. No details other than the front and rear look different for sure.

Pa452, bought my 07 Prerunner at the same time frame you did and am thinking about new also. Canyon is on my short list as is the 2016 Tacoma. Looked at a '14 tacoma and didn't see enough new and desireable content especially since the interior looked very similar to my truck and the '15...

So I will wait until the '16 breaks cover and see what it brings to the market.

For me it's just about getting a newer truck. Although some of the refinements made to the current models I like, such as the backup camera and MP3 capability. Aside from that it's really just a matter of getting something new and hopefully not running into things I need to fix every few months.

Still, I'm looking forward to seeing what they'll be offering on the 2016 model. I may end up with a 2015 anyway.

I went from '06 to '13 to '14, differences..... Radio is different and not all that exceptional, only 1 cd now and the reception is poor, added an air pump on the engine, gas mileage is worse by about 2 mpg, you lose the temp in the mirror after '13, A/C automatically turns ON when you turn the temp dial all the way down and I don't like that, steering wheel is different as is the radio controls, cup holders are different in the console, they eliminated the cargo net in the console so save it from your older model, Sport models now have electric limited slip rather than mechanical, carpet colors changed, the good TRD floor mats are no longer after '11 or '12, floor mat tie downs are now twist lock, shark fin antenna is now standard as of '14, grille is different, Sport scoop is now lower and flatter and I believe all models no longer have the cubby holes in the center of the bedsides as of '14... Other than that it's about the same truck.

Tacoma has been on a downhill slide for years. I'd stick with the 07.

09+ had TRAC so no more mechanical LSD, all models get LED taillights, side curtain airbags are standard, different headrests, and the interior gets some tweaks (area under the HVAC controls has room for three switches).

2011 got a honeycomb grill (one year only) and the late 2011s got new white faced gauges but it is otherwise the same as a 2009-2010.

2012 is a slight redesign. Different front end and some interior tweaks including a new steering wheel.

At some point past that (2014 maybe?) the TRD bedside stickers changed.
