I'd try selecting 4 (no overdrive) when the speed limit is below 45MPH to start, and see how it goes. You could listen/feel for the shifts in a 45MPH zone in both D and 4 to see if my theory holds any merit.

Enjoy showing off the new grill. :)

EDIT: That grill turned out GREAT!

When I select "4" on my '06 auto I lose 5th gear and the torque converter lock. I just try to keep my foot out of it. Not always easy:rolleyes:

'Morning? night? I dunno, I'm just chiming in. Actually working for a change and not just lurking from home.

Actually glad to be at work. My ass is killing me...literally. Spent Friday cleaning the gutters and kinda over did it. A bit sore this evening.

Did I meantion I hate cleaning the gutters? Let me repeat, I hate cleaning gutters. No real good time to clean the bastages. You have to wait until all the leaves are down, then clean the gutters. Of course I have leaves hangin' around deep into December. I can only hope I get a day above freezing to get at them. Obviously, the window is very narrow for this job.

    Thanks for letting me rant.

    KO, out.

Locust trees SUCK! Effing little leaves get in everything! Not just gutters! According to the map on Google they aren't supposed to grow here. Whoever drew that map should clean my gutters:mad:

Hi folks ... worked one of my 4 shifts for the 2 week holiday period. Off for 2 nights when I leave this morning. Had one plan to do ... then the one guy in the op ctr brought in Season 5 of Justified ... passed the rest of the night watching that. Holiday's are usually slow here work wise ... glad I have a lot of days off. :)

Kirk, How do you feel about those gutters ... not sure I caught that right. :D :p

I sleep maybe 4 or 5 hours on this shift. A weekend day shift (sat-wed) opened up which is damn tempting just so I can sleep normally again.

Problem is that I work midnight to 09:00 and so it's been daylight for awhile by the time I get home and then my body wakes up again and it's nearly impossible to stay asleep more than a few hours even with blackout curtains for some reason.

If I stay up all day until 4pm I can sleep through to 11:15pm without an issue as it's dark by the time my body wants to wake up after 4-5 hours.

It seems my body wakes up when I'm sleeping around the 4 to 5 hour mark and if it's light outside it wakes me up consciously. If it's dark outside then I fall back asleep without noticing which makes sense based on what I've leaned about sleep and sleep cycles.

    Hello night crew.

:woot: enjoy your well earned time off, Happy New Year!

Coming off shift that late in the morning would be rough for me. I can see why the day shift would be tempting for you. Honestly, in your situation, I think I'd make the move.

I've settled into the same 4-5 hr sleep pattern, but my shift ends at 7AM. I'm generally home and asleep by between 8 and 9. Wake between noon and 1, stay up a few hours, then back down for another 3-5 hours before work. Works well up here in Winter because I get up while it's light out. Gets a little weird in Summer, generally I just take a nap when I feel I need one--when I can. Problem is on days off, I can't sleep more than about 5 hrs. Like now, yesterday I slept 'til noon, then stayed up 'til I hit the "wall" between 8 and 9PM, only to come wide awake by 1AM. I'll be up 2-3 hours before getting a couple hours more before the rest the house comes to life. For me, it still beats dealing with the reindeer games of dayshift where I work. :notsure:

:sorry: That's tough! I have to admire you doing what you gotta do for your family. You must sleep a lot of your days off away just to catch up on sleep. I don't think I'd like working my current schedule back when we were raising our sons. Although I did some night shift work on active duty, it wasn't full time; we rotated shifts every few months.

That's the thing, first shift is a mess here too. Though the weekends would be pretty quiet and I'd only have to deal with the regulars for three days a week. Not being able to do weekend activities with friends when they have days off would kinda suck though; not to mention the loss of night shift pay differential (15%). I'm on the list to move to normal M-F day shift, but I have to wait until someone on that shift leaves which could be 3-6 months, maybe longer. The turnover here is quite low because they pay very very well.

We'll see what happens, being rested would be nice...

When I was on days I still only slept about 5hrs. 11:00pm-4:00am worked 6:00am-2:30pm. Rinse, repeat. You adapt to your new pattern and still short yourself. At least this way I get weekends off, and a warm bed to get into in the morning:D
