Best Short Throw shifter kit?

Since I don't have to sell my truck I've decided to look into a short shift kit I've been longing for since I got it. I saw a lot of people had a URD and some had TRD but some reported problems with both. Some were talking about B&M but I couldn't find any for a 2nd gen after looking a few minutes or so. If anybody could help me out on this I'd really appreciate it.

 

I have a Hurst/Core short shift kit and have had zero problems with it. It was one of the first things I installed on my truck.

Been running a URD for 12k. No problems.

 

TRD kit with the TRD weighted knob. For 41,000 miles since new. Love it. Dealer installed option at time of order. It's tight to start but loosens up to suit your use.

I had a URD and ended up having it break. can't say for sure if it was my fault or the product. so my vote would be either the hurst or the TRD.

would be interested to know if the Hurst transmits vibes or rattles or if it has an insulator like the stock shifter.

 

The URD uses the stock insulator that is in the truck right now. Thats one of the reasons I went with URD. Too many reviews of other shifters that had a lot of vibe.

 

I have the TRD shifter and like it quite a bit. I had higher expectations for it initially but soon settled with the fact that it's still a truck and not a race car. I picked mine up used for $180 and replaced the nylon bushing and it was good to go. Installation took a few hours but it isn't by any means difficult.

thanks guys. I think im going to go with the URD because I want to get rid of the vibe and I'm sure they've sold a ton of these so of course some people are going to have problems for what ever reason. is there anything else I need to get with it? replacement bushings or anything? my truck has around 85k miles.

Wanted one, then was told production was being ended . Ended up with another URD. It gets the job done.

 

Nope, you don't need anything else. Everything you need comes in the kit and it currently on your truck. You will need a punch to stake the allen screws.

 

It came in and I got everything installed. I'll probably check the spacer and make sure nothings leaking in 2k miles or so but other than that I love it. took 45 minutes and the instructions were easy to follow.
