Weesa, please send snow. Just heard on the radio a list of dogsled races being cancelled because not enough snow. :( ... Not a good sign. :frusty:

You too Man! Just got to get the Taco back on it's feet... er... wheels :D

Yeah... They have a warranty clause that says, "Axle housings, 3rd members, or brackets destroyed do to abuse: ECGS is not liable for damage caused by excessive use though we will work with the customer on a replacement unit."

And another, "Lack of oil will not be covered under warranty or improper break in, abuse of components is not covered, if there is a ring and pinion failure do to excessive abuse we will replace free of charge but we will not reimburse the shipping cost to our facility."

So I guess it comes down to what they mean by abuse. Is just taking it off pavement abuse? or do they mean something more destructive like having a tug'o'war with a semi on pavement type abuse? They replaced Spoonman's and he blew his up on Prichett is Moab and that is not a trail for the faint of heart... Though I don't know the exact details of the replacement. I haven't actually wheeled in about 2 months now. The little bit of wheeling I have done has been just scenic rides. I did get on the throttle on that hill in my pic above, but the noise started before we left the pavement.

Worst case, if all the bearing are fine and I just need a ring and pinion, they are $225+shipping+a 12 pack of Bud Light Platinum and Konsta can throw them in blindfolded. He even said that as long as I get the same brand of gears you shouldn't even have to adjust the shims, they should match up the same.

Now I just need it to warm up so I can pull the diff... They were saying on the radio it's supposed to hit -40* with the windchill tonight..
Hey Lisa, Mostly happy monday for me. I have the week off still:woot:

    :p

OK....just got done shoveling my driveway for hte 4th time since I got home Saturday afternoon. Was reading the avalanche report this morning and they said the mountains just east of me have gotten almost two feet of snow in the last couple of days!

Which races got cancelled? Hopefully none of the Iditarod qualifiers.

I is off this week too! :woot:

Gotta watch out for those warrantee clauses....I would hope that products made for offroad use wouldn't have a clause about misuse or abuse :notsure:

With people nowadays you've always got to have some sort of clause just to protect yourself. Overall I've heard good things about them and their warranty though. That was the biggest reason I went with them in the 1st place.

Hope a "good guy" processes your warranty claim versus an "anal prick" ... Lotta times I think it comes down to exactly that. *fingers crossed brother

You needs a garage or a friend with a garage.

From what I picked up on, none of them Iditarod qualifiers. But it's a bad trend. :( Hoping for a few "dumps" soon.

Yeah. I think they only have 2 or 3 guys that work there and they seem to be pretty good.

I have a garage and I have a friend with a garage. Problem 1, my garage isn't heated... and if I pull the third I can't move the Tacoma so it will be stuck in the garage which equals unhappy wife...

Problem 2: friend with heated garage (Konsta) is now 60 miles away... we moved when my wife got a job in Idaho Falls.

Well, isn't that a pickle (the garage part) ... From experience, DON'T piss off your wife. ;)

Hope the weather cuts you some slack soon.

Well Jim is still alive so how bad can it really be? ;) haha

The weather looks ok right now, but I'm pretty sure it's colder out there than it looks. We're about to head into a weather advisory for bad winds though... And my wife is at work and she is a little paranoid about me crawling under the rig with it on jackstands by myself, so she wants me to wait until tomorrow when she has the day off and will be home...

Your wife is a smart woman ... Listen to her.

EDIT: Jim talks a good game, but I'll bet he tries not to piss his wife off too much. I don't call him WBO (Wise Bearded One) for no damn reason. ;)
