I live by the beach in CA (desert) and spent my summers growing up in the east coast beaches. Here beaches are different than East Coast Beaches in that as long as you are not parked right on the beach (I live 1 mile in), the humidity here is so low compared to the
East. When I was on the east coast shoreline, I remember having to WD40 my bike nearly every day just to make sure the bike would roll! Humidity is an enemy to steel regardless where you live. Extereme temps are bad for many components too.

    Salt will kill all.

I still love West Coast vehicles for their lack of rust. 20+ year old cars here will routinely come through with no rust on the underside, even the fasteners.

I'm also of the opinion that the Pacific Northwest is one of the best places for vehicle preservation. We have low UV impact, moderate temperatures and local and state governments abhor road salt for its impact on the rivers. There is also very little humidity.

The temperature ranges we see are very kind to batteries, too; they routinely last 8+ years, compared to four in the Midwest.

I remember living back east where some of the best storage places were in barns - low light, medium humidity, dirt floor - kinda like Oregon! :)

Of course. Phoenix vehicles are in 10X better shape than those from NY state after a period of time.

That's why most people where I'm from wouldn't ever buy a Toyota. Maybe that's changed now, idk.
