I'm pretty sure its volts x amps = watts

    12 volts x 0.5 amps = 12 watts

When your car is in Drive you can use 100 watts, When in Park 400 watts.

It also says 12 watts on the charger.

Also you can do the 400w anytime mod. It's easy and if your going to have the center apart and all the tools to do the other outlet mod it will only take a few more min. It's my favorite mod I have done.

I don't know much about electrical. Am I ok using the T-tap or quick splice for this kind of application or should I get something like this...http://www.posi-lock.com/posiplug.html I had never seen these but used quick splices for cup holder LEDs and my rock lights. Just want to make sure something doesn't get messed up and that I have plenty of power running to the USB port. Thanks

I have been using the positaps for a year now. They are exponentially better than any of the other devices that do the same thing.

I like these posi-locks they look a lot better then t taps. I hate t taps they don't always make good connections. And are known to fail. I did however use t taps only becuase it's all I had and I have never seen these. If I get bored im going to switch them out to these and add the USB plugs.

For a good connection you do this.

They are still known to fail. Stripping the wire is a must. But they are made so cheap the metal forks bent, witch resort to a loose connection. Me being an electrician I don't like loose conn. So I took it apart and used another one . But I still no it's there and they do fail. I have been using it for a yr with no problems. As long as you don't mess with the wires after you splice there fine. But as soon as you pull on them they can easily bend . Not sure if that makes since to you. It's hard to explain.

I know what you're saying. I've never had problems so far. I've heard problems but they didn't cut out a little section first to get that solid connection in the first place.

I think your right most of the ones I hear about are the same they don't strip it first. The other most common problem is pulling on them.

Yup. Once you clip one, it's not meant to be taken off.

I've never found them locally. I just ordered like 10 of each so I have them in hand. I just used them for this & the 400w anytime mod. Until you use one, you won't understand how much better they are.

Make sure you have a proper ground and proper t tap connections. Try and get a video together and show us so we can troubleshoot the problem.
