    i just got a 98 tacoma with 85k miles 5-speed. i live in upstate ny. i just found out about the recall. i didnt even title the car yet. im trying to find out if this will pass the recall?

    only the left side seems bad

    i've been told it is hit with a hammer and if it penetrate it fails. it doesnt necessarily need holes in it to fail. i dont want to bring it there till its titled. i thought it was pretty bad

    Most of my holes had been covered/scabbed for the two years prior to the buyback.

    Yes, if the frame can be easily penetrated it will fail. If it had frame repair, it will fail. Also, check the crossmembers over the spare tire carrier.

    They do a hammer test on it and if the hammer punches a hole in the frame the inspection is failed and Toyota will buyback the truck for 150% of Kelly Blue Book. For what it's worth the frames were made for Toyota by Dana

    Unless they changed things from when i when't through the process you must own the truck for 6 months to qualify

    That was at the Dealership in Pennsdale by the mall
    They never offered a rental to me.

    Alot of them still had aftermarket stuff left on them too.
