I bought a 50" samsung LED smart TV last year and have been happy with it. I believe samsung gets the best reviews from what I've read when I was researching them back then.

Samsung and LG are the only two companies that make the actual screen part of the TV...at least that is how it was a few years ago.

I'm happy with my LG a I know my brother is happy with his too. Can't go wrong with either of them.

I've also heard good things about Toshiba and they are typically less expensive than other name bands

X2 on Samsung and on 15x12 room I would go a bit bigger than 40-42" if possible... probably 50-55"

yea samsung seem to be the best. I have a 42" LG in my living room that i bought in 2008. I keep waiting for it to die so I can buy a 55'' or 60'' samsung LED.

Awesome, thanks! I was leaning towards Samsung as well, because that's what I have now. On my side, when all my friends got the flat panel TV's, they gave me their old flat screen / big back TV's. Right now, I have three 32" flat screen Samsung's in my house that are working fine. But, my wife and family have been on a crusade to get me to buy a newer TV for the living room. I'm only caving in since someone else is buying. :D

I was going to put them on Craigslist for $40 for the big one and $20 for the 20". If someone from the NJ BS thread wants them, I'd go like $20 for the big one and just take the 20" one. Now that I think of it, there are two 32" JVC's at my mother-in-laws (they just got new TV's too), if anyone is interested. Corey should have first dibs though as he asked first.

    Let me know guys.

Get a few models and then do some research on what you've narrowed down here;http://www.avsforum.com/forum/index.php

These guys know a/v gear like guys here know taco setups. And they aren't salespeople so they won't be trying to talk you into something for a commission like some Best Buy salesman.

There's a lot to factor in. What's your main use - watching sports? gaming? dvd/Blu-ray? Will the panel be in a room that's dark, or have bright sunlight? I love my Panny plasma - great color, rich, deep blacks, but because the room it's in is bright I keep the curtains closed because of glare. When you finally decide on something, I'd suggest going back to the sight above, going to "display calibrations" and set the panel according to one of the more knowledgeable members. There are so many setup options nowadays it's very hard to eyeball.
