Being locked really helps prevent blowing up gears right?

    LOL
nope. not one that is bolt in or somewhat easy to install, and wouldnt require full custom CVs which is big $$$$$
    not locked.
its normally the spider gears that give out on me.

my new one has an ARB in it now so hopefully i wont need to bounce off the revlimiter to get up things.
does anyone know if this is true?
i was told an ARB puts 4 spider gears into the diff instead of 2 like a normal front diff, thus making the spiders stronger because they are only taking half the force as they are used to?

it always breaks while hauling the mail up softer hills, i think because the power is bouncing back and forth from tire to tire in the real soft stuff thus making the spider gears work like crazy going back and forth..... if you drive normal you should be good...... but man i wish i had a different thing i could do besides SAS

Nope... Makes it worse... You have better traction now so you are putting more pressure on the axles rather than just spinning the tire with the least traction.

On the flip side though it can mean you get up things easier so you abuse the truck less trying to get up things. But there's always something out there to challenge your locked rig and that's when shit starts breaking...

Yeah I thought it made it better cuz you don't have to spin em so hard... guess that's a blessing and a curse haha. I was only wondering because I didn't know if it would be better to run a locker or a posse up front when I regear?

I have 4.88s and the ARB in the front. I have only had to use the front locker on a few occasions. Have not had any front diff issues but I don't bounce off the rev limiter.

Where's the fun in that? ;)

I try to just creep up everything I can though. Haha skinny pedal doesn't come out until I've exhausted all other efforts.

Planning on spindle gussets? I like how the MCM kit is really beefy on when it comes to the UCA/LCA. On of the best kits for a multi-purpose rig. Did great in Big Bear. Trying to finish up my 7th injector install so I can find some snow. How much squeek you getting on your LT?

Haha no way man. No frame gussests or spindle gussests or cam gussets or bumps. Gotta wait.

I think..you suffer from bad driver issues if your red lining a lot..

But yes. Arb locker does make the spiders stronger.

Wrong. Spider gears and carrier become stronger.

While you are locked yes you risk breaking cv axles more though.

    X2

Yes. Gussets on everything haha just not this go around. It's frozen up here so everything is making odd noises. But the uppers and lowers both have grease zerts so squeaks will be easy to make go away.
