    I think you looking for a fault, but that ABS does exactly what it supposed do. It's set to work in a truck towing 6500 lb trailer, fully loaded. That's the problem. Usually anything towing that much weight is a full size. Which has different rules because it's not classified as passenger vehicle. Best thing would be to make ABS optional but goverment knows best .:cool:

    Function of ABS has nothing to do with weight. Its looking at the rotation of the wheels only. I for one appreciate the purpose of properly functioning
    ABS, and know that in 90%+ cases it will stop you sooner on icy conditions than a driver operator pumping the pedal.

    Correct, as the descisions made by the algorithm are only as good as the inputs provided by the hardware, so if that is not working correctly, then there is a resulting problem.

    How ABS function is affected by weight. Software on Prius is different than on Tacoma.
    In fact I never had any problems with ABS when my truck was loaded or towing.
    If you look at horror stories there seems to be none with anybody towing heavy trailer.
    Why is that? You would thin if anything inability to stop would be most preveling for somebody towing trailer.

    I think we're on the same page in that weight can influence traction, and braking requirements. I don't understand how it has any influence on what ABS does though.

    Can't we all just agree that after 48+ pages & 960+ posts that those things that stop our trucks (most of the time, depending on whether you hate abs or not) are called brakes, not breaks? Unless, of course they break, but in that case, they are broken brakes, not broken breaks...

    Drove the Tacoma in snow last week for the first time. ABS was a little wonky to get used to in the parking lots...I need way more practice. Or, just take the Jeep when snow is impending next time...

    I've been contemplating a set of 265/75 DTs for a while...just want a little more clearance, some real leaf springs, and no vibes in the bargain...
